Since its introduction by Essie Weingarten, Essie has delighted the colour-obsessed with a love shared all over the world. The three latest collections to hit our shores are absolutely beautiful and are bound to get you stocking up on new favourites. They’ve covered every trend: there’s the Essie Luxe Effects 2017 collection, and the limited edition Treat, Love and Colour – a one-step way to care for and strengthen your nails while wearing four gorgeous, breathable Essie sheers. The collection that caught our eye: If you please fall for Japanese.
There’s a reason why the fashion savvy flock to the number one street style destination in the world: taste, flair and Japan’s uncanny aptitude for mixing fashion metaphors. If you have the good fortune to be there in autumn, you get the added pleasure of watching the leaves change colour with Mount Fuji in the distance.
The range was inspired by Essie’s Global Colour Designer, Rebecca Minkoff’s time in Tokyo. She created a collection that reflects the changing autumn foliage and the tastes and energy of Tokyo.
This six-shade palette creates a perfect balance between trendsetting colour and classic looks.
1. Playing Koi – a flirtatious orange rust
2. Maki Me Happy – a crimson-wrapped berry
3. Kimono-Over – an inviting damson plum
4. Now and Zen – a timeless sage grey
5. Mint Candy Apple – a creme de menthe mint
6. Lilacism – a satiny smooth lilac
All the colours in the Essie Fall Collections cost R134,95 each and are available from Clicks and Dis-Chem.
Nail art the Essie way
Rita Remark, celebrity manicurist and Essie Global Lead Educator, created this inspired nail look using the new Essie Fall 2016 Collection. Channel your inner cherry blossom girl with this fun design.
The geisha tassel
1. After a thin layer of Essie base coat, apply two coats of Maki Me Happy.
2. Using a striping brush, apply thin stripes of Mint Candy Apple and Lilacism vertically down the nail.
3. Use the striping brush to create one or two small triangle tassels hanging on each of the lines. Seal with Essie top coat.
Rita’s tip: Clean your brush frequently in polish remover to keep lines crisp.
