Your skin acts as an important barrier that protects you from the outside world. Winter is harsh on your baby’s skin and strips it of its natural moisture which can lead to chapping, redness, and irritation in general. Babies are also more prone to outbreaks of eczema in the cooler months, which is why it is vital to take care of their sensitive skin and make the necessary changes to provide them with a unique daily cleansing and moisturising skincare routine.
Try these products to keep your baby’s skin hydrated and healthy:

More tips for new moms
Personal development and Mommy blogger, Jonelle du Pont shares some more insight into caring for your baby’s skin:
Change nappies regularly to prevent rashes and irritation from dampness against the delicate area. Choosing nappies that work for your baby is something that takes a little trial and error. A brand that works well for others may not work well for your baby. The same applies to using wet wipes. We tried various nappy brands until we found the right ones. Pampers premium diapers were great when he was newborn but as he got older we had to switch to Huggies to keep him dry during the night. We also made sure to change his nappy right before bedtime to ensure he was dry for longer periods. We use Baby Dove wipes which are awesome! They don’t rip as easily as other wipes and they come out the bag individually, leaving them fresh right to the end.
Bepanthen or another similar barrier cream should be used on your baby’s bum to prevent wet nappies causing irritation. Bepanthen bum cream was a lifesaver. We used it with every nappy change for the first year of my son’s life and he had one nappy rash during summer, which cleared away within a few days.
After your baby has a bath, a nice body lotion helps to lock in the moisture and prevent the skin from drying out. Bathing a baby every day can be too harsh on the skin and can cause drying. Instead, bath your baby two or three times a week in warm water. At bath time we used the Pure Beginnings organic range. It was a bit pricier but gentle on my baby’s skin and smelled amazing. After his bath, we rubbed his body in plain, scent free aqueous cream.
