#WCW: Stella McCartney (And her new campaign squad)


We’re crushing on Stella McCartney and her new fragrance, POP Bluebell.

Deemed more than just a fragrance, the campaign is all about girl power and “Bold, Authentic and Irreverent” women. This fresh new release follows her first POP fragrance that was launched just last year, which soon became a cult favourite. Spring 2017 sees the unveiling of an intriguing new twist in the story of Stella McCartney’s fragrance, POP and we can’t wait to add it to our collection.

Not just the daughter of a famous Beatle, Stella is a renowned designer with a slew of fragrance and fashion hits under her belt. We all know fragrance is more than just grabbing the first pretty bottle you see (although that helps), our selection process runs so much deeper. We love that this new scent encourages women, individuality, and a new kind of beauty, supported by your friends. Who run the world?!

The campaign

You may even recognise Madonna’s daughter, Lourdes Leon and actress Amandla Stenberg, along with muso Grimes and animal activist, Kenya Kiniski Jones. Strong on their own, but even stronger together, these girls represent today’s new generation of powerful women, and a liberated approach to beauty.

Stella McCartney explains: “True and lasting friendships are how we grow, creating a deeper sense of intimacy, generosity and courage. The bluebell reflects this perfectly. It’s extremely beautiful, however its principal quality is strength. It gives itself the firmest foundations so that it’s ready to bloom.”

More about the scent

POP Bluebell’s metallic purple speaks of dusk and twilight, a sharp contrast to the original, more playful hot pink of POP. The cap, a tribute to the medallion on Stella’s iconic Falabella bag, appears in striking metallic mauve. Love!

English bluebell brings a new balance, depth and personality to the original POP’s tuberose and sandalwood. The English bluebell is an endangered species and it is illegal to pick it. Unlike other bluebells, it boasts an incredible fragrance: bright, delicate, and dewy – now largely unknown on account of its rarity. POP Bluebell uses biomimicry out of respect to this precious raw material. Say what? Biomimicry means that the flower’s distinctive scent can be captured without any damage to the plant, or its existence in its natural state. It also makes POP Bluebell the first perfume to capture the flower’s actual scent, rather than an interpretation.

It echoes the multi-faceted nature of the new generation of Stella McCartney icons. Feminine without being fragile, bold yet balanced, it makes a statement without ever having to shout.
