Question: Can IPL cause skin cancer?

Can IPL cause skin cancer?

Answer

Thank you for your question, it’s such a great one. IPL is an intense pulse treatment that (in the case of pigmentation and skin rejuvenation) targets and removes pigmented spots and lesions. So, if there is already skin cancer present in the skin, the IPL will certainly make the cancerous lesion visible. But remember, cancer is a cell mutation, and IPL cannot cause cell mutation. So, no, IPL cannot CAUSE skin cancer.
