Question: Chemical Peels

I have combination skin, non problematic skin, with slight blackheads on the nose. with regard to that and my age (24) and skin type 5, what chemical peel would be best, and should I go to a Dermatologist for this kind of procedure?

Answer

Hi there. Chemical peels are great and it sounds like you are a good candidate. Just remember that once you’ve had a peel, the real result and after effect is in the maintenance. I would suggest a peel containing Salicylic Acid for the type of issues you’ve described, There are so many on the market, so just be sure you are going to someone who really knows what they are doing. We can help you at any one of our Skin Renewal Branches, or try to find a good, medical based practice that specialises in skin. With your skin type, please do not consider TCA peels or very deep peels as these are just too risky on a skin type 5. Your skin needs to be treated slowly and systematically over a long period of time.
