Question: Eczema

Would you recommend exfoliation for dermatitis/eczema prone skin? If so, what kind (scrub or enzymatic/chemical)?

Answer

Exfoliation, yes, is a good idea, BUT NOT during a flare-up or period of sensitivity. I do not suggest scrubs that are mechanically abrasive, rather mild enzymatic products that do not require a lot of rubbing on the skin. I suggest for this type of skin, only once a week at night (in the bath or shower). In between, I reccommend using Neostrata’s Problem Dry Skin Cream as this comforts and nourishes the skin while also encouraging gentle sloughing of the dead skin.
