Question: From Charmaine Thabang Kekana

Good day Dr. I developed dark marks around my mouth in December and tried using everything but they wouldn't go away,I then went to the pharmacy where the gentleman there mixed persivate with aqueous cream and told me to use it,I used it and they went away however I'm worried about the effect it will have on my skin,I haven't stopped using it. Is it going to damage my skin and have negative consequences later in life?

Answer

Hello, I am happy to hear that the marks went away. Persivate is normally given when there is inflammation in a certain area. It is not recommended to use it long term though, so once that inflammation is gone, you need to stop. I would rather recommend that you invest in a pigment suppressing cream. This will ensure that the marks stay away and don’t flare up again at a later stage and can be used long term. Lamelle Brighter concentrate serum can be used daily, either in the morning or in the evening under your moisturizer.
