Question: Mineral Oils

Please can you explain a little about mineral oils that are found in some skincare products? Should they be avoided?

Answer

Thank-you for your question. I think a lot of consumers are confused about mineral oils and whether or not they are good or bad. I think over the years, many people have assumed that "mineral oils" automatically means the product contains petrolatum based ingredients, which is really not the case. We would not be able to have most of the make-up products we have on the market if it were not for mineral based ingredients and mineral oils. I would say that mineral oils and oils in general should be used cautiously or avoided by patients who suffer with severely oily or acne-type skins.
