Question: My moisturiser is leaving oily marks on my pillow, help!

I am using night and eye creams on my face every night before I sleep. I then have to wash my pillowcase twice a week due to the oil mark the creams leave behind. I also have to replace the pillow every month because pillows cannot be washed. Have you any suggestions on this can this be avoided? I use Lamelle, Estee Lauder or Bobbi Brown skincare range.

Answer

If you’re using a moisturiser that leaves an occlusive layer, and you apply a liberal amount of it, then it’s absolutely possible for your product to smear onto your pillow. It really depends on what you are using. How often you change your pillow case is really a case of personal preference. I would say at least weekly. But if you sweat a lot while you sleep, and you can see or feel your moisturiser sitting on your pillow, then you may want to do this more regularly. I would suggest possibly using pillow protectors on your pillows, ad these can be washed and allow your pillows to last longer. You may also want to look at other options of products to use, so that this is not a hassle for you.
