Question: Which ghd is best?

Hi Gaby how are you? I have natural african hair(like Pearl Thusi) I do not relax it but I would like to heat straighten it for my birthday next year. I read that the ghd is very good, I want to buy one for myself but there are so many to choose from, which model is best suited for african hair? What tips can you give to achieve a perfect blow out at home?

Answer

Any GHD will be suitable to use on african hair. For best results, use a thermal heat protector, blow dry the hair straight first and then go over the hair with your iron with a maximum of two passes. Ensure the hair is shampooed and conditioned properly before starting to blow dry. Apply a heat protection product to your wet hair. Begin to rough dry hair by tipping your head upside down and drying it off. When it is 80% dry, tip your head back over. Section hair into brush width sections. Your brush size will depend on the length of your hair. The shorter your hair the smaller the brush and visa versa. Begin by drying the roots properly. For volume lift up the brush at the roots. Continue moving down the hair length, rotating the brush in the direction that the air is flowing from the dryer. Continue this process on each section of hair.
