Hi Gwen! It’s great that you’re ready to embrace healthy change! Committing to a healthy lifestyle is a challenge, and one that needs to be worked on and recommitted to daily – no shortcuts, no pills or potions, no half measures! Familiarise yourself with the basics first so that you don’t feel overwhelmed in the early stages. On the exercise front, you need roughly 150 minutes of moderate to intense exercise a week. This needs to be a combination of cardio and resistance/weight training. On the nutrition front, you need a healthy combination of lean protein, mono and polyunsaturated fats, complex carbs and fruit and veg. The rough guide of three meals and two snacks is a good starting block. If this sounds overwhelming, book an appointment with a certified dietician. Online magazines and especially fitness DVDs can be a great source of knowledge and supervised training. Good luck!
