Question: Question from Neem craze

Hi doctor. I have been hearing a lot of people talk about neem oil, and many of them claim that taking neem capsules improved their skin tremendously. I did some research and found out that neem oil has been used in West Africa for ages, because of its healing and anti-bacterial benefits. Do you know whether or not this oil could work in improving the skin? (in terms of acne and redness), and whether it would be best to apply it topically or ingest the capsules? Thanks!

Answer

Quite right. Neem oil is a fantastic skin care ingredient. In fact some medical ranges have it in their skin care preparations for acne skin. If you are specifically using it for your skin, then it is always better to do a topical application. Just remember that you must always wear a sunblock every day.
