Question from Ramikb

Hi, I'm 26 and I'm currently breaking out consistently. I'm currently using Clinique's Anti-Blemish range and to combat pigmentation I'm using their dark spot corrector. I'm not convinced it's working. I have combination skin with oily T area. Please do advise on what I should be using for my skin problem.

Very often when it comes to getting an oily skin back into “balance,” it is quite important that we get quite a few things under control. Firstly, we have to be sure that the products you are using are actually the right ones for your skin’s needs. Often, cosmetic houses put high amounts of inappropriate alcohol in their formulations to give the client the “drying effect,” but this unfortunately makes the problem worse in the long run. Secondly, if there is a hormonal influence affecting your skin, we need to ensure we bring that under control. Thirdly, we have to look at the lifestyle factors that affect your skin, to make sure that you are taking care of your skin from all the necessary “angles.” For me to be able to adequately assist you and make a real impact on your skin, I’d really need to take a closer look at your skin and ask you some really important questions to be able to give you a good action plan. Are you close enough to any of our Skin Renewal branches for you to come in and see us? (You can find us on In the meantime, there are a few basic things you can do to slowly get started. Get yourself the following product from Lamelle’s clarity range: Active Cleanse; Corrective AM and Dermheal Hydrating Sunscreen, also (if your budget allows), get the Acnevelle Tablets that highly compliment the effects of the Lamelle Clarity Range.
