Question: Tampon Alternative?

Hi Lisa I recently heard about menstrual cups as an alternative to tampons and pads. Before I venture into the unknown I just wanted to find out if you've heard of them and if they're safe? There is an SA website that sells them locally www.meluna.co.za - they look okay but I just wanted to hear if menstrual cups are okay to use?

Answer

I have heard about menstrual cups, and find them to be well received by certain individuals, and in no way dangerous or toxic. This one comes down to personal preference, and whether or not you can accommodate the inconvenience of having to rinse the cup as you need to. Many public rest rooms don’t have closed off single toilet units with sinks for privacy, which would be an obvious requirement.
