Joelle’s look is all about long hair, a perfect matte complexion and shimmering silver shadow. It’s the perfect party look and, if you’ve got the right products, very easy to emulate.
Want to copy’s Joelle’s simple yet elegant-looking pony tail but don’t have long hair? That’s easy to overcome with a simple weave. You can find some good ones at selected Clicks stores that you can take to your local hairdresser. If, however, you’ve got your own locks, you’re going to need to straighten them. You can do this with a flat iron like a ghd Gold Classic styler, R1 999.99. It boasts ceramic contoured plates and works well on both coarse hair and relaxed hair. Alternatively, you can opt for a permanent hair straightening treatment like Dr. Miracle’s Thermalceutical Intensive No-lye relaxer kit, R79.99. It relaxes while nourishing your hair and promises not to cause breakage that could happen with other types of relaxers.
Once your hair’s straight, brush it into a side parting and secure it in a low pony. To give your new style a healthy-looking sheen, give it a spritz with something like Lee Stafford Poker Straight Shine Serum R94.99. It’s lightweight, non-greasy and enriched with antioxidant vitamins E and A.
Face: To create a fresh-looking matte complexion first hide any imperfections or dark under-eye circles with a little concealer. Next, sweep a little powder foundation over your forehead, nose, cheeks and chin, something like MAC Studio Fix powder foundation, R255. It can be applied with the sponge that’s included in the compact or, for a slightly sheerer-looking finish, use a large powder brush.
Eyes: Draw a medium to thick line on the top of your eyelids with a dark eye pencil like Lancôme Le Crayon Kohl in Noir, R260. You can also use it to line the inner rims of your lower lash line. Shadow-wise, use a silver powder shadow on your entire eyelid, extending the colour just above your crease. Next, use a charcoal colour on the outer corner of each eyelid and blend it into the silver. (The Body Shop Baked To Last eye shadow duo in Starlight, R175, looks very similar to what Joelle’s wearing.) To finish, give your lashes two coats of something like Woolworths 3 in 1 mascara, R120. It volumises, lengthens and enhances your natural curl.
Cheeks: Joelle’s not wearing any blush but if you want to highlight your bone structure apply a sheer veil of a slightly pearlescent highlighter to the tops of your cheek bones and blend upwards and outwards. We like Benefit Moonbean Iridescent complexion enhancer, R265.
Lips: Last but not least, apply a slick of sheer pearlescent lip gloss to your lips, something like Inglot AMC lip gloss in #546, R119.
