Sleek locks, flawless skin and beautiful brows; it’s easy to understand why anyone would want to look like actress Zoe Saldana. Fortunately, if you’ve got the right products and a little bit of knowhow, it’s really a simple look to pull off.
If you want to emulate Zoe’s super-straight hair but don’t have the length, consider investing in a weave. Alternatively, you could grow out your hair and opt for a semi-permanent hair straightening treatment like a Brazilian-style blow out. There are many to choose from but we’re a fan of KeraStraight as it’s one of the few treatments that’s completely formaldehyde-free. Another benefit? Rather than grow out, it eventually washes out after two to four months, depending on how often you wash your hair. This way you’re not left with a head of curly roots and pin-straight ends; a difficult look to manage. We also like that unlike most other straightening treatments, you don’t have to wait for three days before you wash your hair. The moment you walk out of the salon, you’re done. To keep your newly straightened locks looking nice and shiny, treat them to something like Fantasia Olive Moisturising shine serum, R90. It contains frizz-busting silicone to add shine and deep conditioning olive oil to help keep your new ’do in tip-top shape.
Face: To create a glowing complexion, reach for a tinted moisturiser that’ll allow for your skin’s own natural radiance to ‘shine through’. Alternatively, you could try a foundation that contains optical diffusers to bend the light around your face, something like Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Mineral Makeup, R340. If you’ve got a large powder brush it’s easy to apply and the range includes several shades for darker skin tones.
Eyes: Zoe’s perfectly groomed brows are no accident so be sure to pluck any strays and set yours in place with something like The Body Shop Brow & Lash Gel, R99. Next, line the top of your eyelids with a jet black liquid liner and use a soft black kohl pencil on the inner bottom rims. To really open up your peepers, use a mascara like Bourjois Volume Glamour MAX Definition, R116. It promises to add lots of length while curling your lashes upwards and outwards.
Cheeks: Add a little colour and bring out your cheekbones with a little bit of coral-coloured blush. A good match to Zoe’s would be Woolworths Cheeks powder blush in Peach Melba, R140.
Lips: To finish your look, add a slick of satin-textured plum-coloured lipstick, something like Revlon Super Lustrous lipstick in Berry Rich, R99.
