The finest Incense hails from western Oman and has held mythic status since ancient times. Incense is a resin tapped from the Boswelia tree.The Boswelia Sacra tree produces the highest grade of incense, also known as “true” incense. This tree can only be found in the very specific area of Dhofar in a fifty-mile-wide belt between the ocean and the Empty Quarter (the vast and waterless dune field in the middle of the Arabian Peninsula.) Harvesters tap the trees three times between March and August, recutting in the same spot to get a progressively stronger-smelling sap. This is left to crystallise for two weeks before being collected and sorted according to shape, purity, origin, and colour.
