  1. This facial cleanser states that it is suited for normal to oily skin. I liked the packaging because it allows me to squeeze the amount of product out that I want at a time and is sealed tightly preventing spillage. The colours used on the packaging are blue and white which I liked because they are colours associated with water and cleanliness.

The smell of the formula is refreshing but not overpowering. It doesn’t smell like any fruit or flower to me, but just a very clean kind of smell. The formula comes out of the bottle easily and I like that it lathers easily with the water.

Using on my skin definitely makes me feel like all the dirt is being removed very gently. I prefer to use the cleanser with the facial cream than without because without, my skin feels a little dry.

It doesn’t keep oiliness at bay as well as the Johnson’s Oil Control range, even though the packaging says it is suitable for normal to oily skin. If I had to choose between the two cleansers I would choose the latter.

However, it is a cleanser that makes my face feel very awake and clean and it never burned my face.

  2. Being a student with a beauty-product-weakness is not easy. You have to find a balance between quality and affordability. I have been using the same face wash for 4 years now and, sadly, the product has been discontinued in South Africa. So, I went to Clicks to look for a new face wash and day cream and I found Johnson’s Even Complexion face wash and SPF 15 day cream.

First of all, the product is inexpensive (yay!) and pretty.

I found that using only a pea sized amount of the wash on a dry face worked the best for me. The package says that the wash has ‘bursting beads’, which makes it very underwhelming when you only get one little red dot out of the tube every time you wash your face.

Nonetheless, the wash is very nourishing and does not feel like it is stripping your face of its natural oils.

The day cream is slightly too ‘sun-creamy’ for my liking, although it worked a lot better when I heated a little bit of the product up by rubbing my hands together before application.

I only had one little pimple while using the wash, but that was during the time of the month that I usually get a pimples (know what I mean?).

Overall, I quite liked the products.

  3. I was so surprised with this cleanser from J&J. It smells divine and didn’t dry out my skin. I wasn’t left with that tight feeling that I find some cleansers can do. It’s affordable and gets the job done!
