Lush Mint Julips Lip Scrub

Lush Mint Julips Lip Scrub

When you use Mint Julips, you’ll find yourself craving a bowl of mint-chocolate chip ice cream. It’s made with refreshing peppermint oil, which will make your lips feel soothed and tingly, and sweet vanilla extract to lock in moisture and protect your lips. Simply rub it over your lips when they’re feeling the need for some sugar.

What we say:
I must confess that up until now I have never used a lip scrub. The most I ever did was exfoliate my lips with my toothbrush. I was given this product as a gift, and tried it straight away, as I am completely unable to resist anything that Lush produces.

My first impression was that the scrub was very crystal-like in texture, almost like sugar. It’s nicely packed in a mini glass jar and quite compact, so nothing spills out when you lift the lid. But besides for the texture and formulation, I should really get to the two things that are most important – the smell and taste.

When I say it smells and tastes AMAZING, that is because there is really no other way to describe it. The closest thing I can compare the flavour to is a Peppermint Crisp chocolate. It’s minty, chocolaty and reminds me of cookies. And, best of all, the product is edible, so you can lick the remains off when you are done scrubbing!

It’s seriously addictive, so be warned when you try it for yourself!

  1. I have tested all the lip scrubs at Lush, but my favourite one is the caramel and popcorn flavoured lip scrub. Now, prior to this I had never heard of a lip scrub and I can’t say I ever scrubbed my lips with anything. I tried out a lip scrub at Lush and realized afterwards how smooth my lips were! And they taste delicious.

Lip scrubs are great for when your lips are dry and flaking. They are made up usually of a peppermint oil or other oils mixed with brown sugar (which is more coarse than white sugar). You take a small amount on your finger and rub it on your lips, as if you were brushing your teeth, but instead you’re brushing your lips. Obviously you don’t apply too much pressure, as you don’t want to damage your lips. You also don’t want to do this too often, or you’ll strip your lips.

    Why are lip scrubs used?
Since matte lipsticks are quite popular these days, it also means that they aren’t the most moisturizing lip products. They can dry out your lips quite a bit and matte lipstick looks awful on chapped lips, so it’s usually a good idea to make sure your lips are exfoliated before applying matte lipsticks to allow for the application to look and feel better.

The lip scrub comes in a small 25g glass pot with a plastic screw on lid. The product should last a while, as you’re only exfoliating every few days and not every day.

Do you NEED this product? No. A tooth brush does the same trick, but what the tooth brush doesn’t have is nourishing oils and a delicious taste.

  2. Let me start off with the fact that I love Lush as a company, most of their products are vegan (Contain no animal product), are 100% animal cruelty free and all of their products have natural ingredients.

My mom received this lip scrub as a gift and absolutely adored it, I bought my own and was immediately impressed. The vanilla-mint scent is so refreshing without being overpowering. The base of the scrub is castor sugar which is great at exfoliating dry chapped lips in winter. You will be left with baby soft kissable lips.

To use: Apply a pinch onto dry lips and scrub away until you are satisfied with the result and have gotten rid of any dryness. Wash off the excess sugar.

To end this review I would like to recommend the product to anyone, who, like me constantly has dry lips. I like to use the product every second night and apply a balm afterwards.

  3. As a make-up artist and skin specialist, it is hard to find a product that works well with lipstick and is good for your skin. My Lush lip scrubs go everywhere with me! They make my clients lips soft which gives a better texture during photo shoots and helps my lipsticks stay on longer. Would recommend this product to everyone!
