What we say:
I danced from a young age and over the years I grew accustomed to the heavy make-up required for stage shows, however the powder was one product I could never get used to. In my mind, powder only came in one variety, cakey!

Boy am I glad I got over my dislike for powder as over the years it has been a lifesaver. Unless I am wearing a super matte foundation, without a face powder, my face starts to get slightly shiny before noon – no one wants a shiny face! I have used a variety of drugstore powders over the years, but none of them have compared to the MAC Studio Fix powder. Not only does MAC have a huge variety of shades, but also the quality and staying power of their powder is incomparable to any other brand.

The powder comes with sponge in a separate compartment, but I prefer to use a quality powder brush. By using a brush I am able to apply an ultra light dusting of powder that gives my face a matte finish after applying BB cream or foundation. On days that I want to give my skin a break from most make-up, I dust a touch of powder over my face to even out any redness and I am good to go. I will continue to use this powder until a new hero powder comes along, but after using this powder for 6 years, I’m convinced that I won’t find a powder better suited to my needs.

  1. I wore MAC on my wedding and I’ve worn it since… they have made to measure colours in long wearing formulations that last and stand up to humidity and heat. This compact though is a bit delicate….I’ve broken a few along the way and the powder inside. Buy spares… you will take this one everywhere.

  2. Light weight and the perfect product to slip in your hand bag on a night out! I use the Studio Fix in conjunction with my MAC foundation – on days when extra cover up is needed. Easy to apply and great for summer days when all you need is a light touch up.

  3. This was the first MAC product I ever purchased and I became a fan for life! I don’t particularly like liquid foundation for every day use so this is perfect for me, it’s light-medium coverage depending on application but the final result is flawless-looking skin. I have very oily skin and do need to reapply during the day, but the product lasts a long time which makes it worth the price tag.

  4. Obsessed. Such a smooth feel and not too cakey on the skin. I stole this from my sister and I’m completely obsessed. The only thing I would say that is a bit of a down side is the price, but MAC can always be trusted for absolute quality and powder foundations are perfect for spring/summer. Gorgeous powder I will be repurchasing (when I run out of my sisters hehe)

  5. I used to use this powder. It is one of the better powders although it does cake up a bit (meaning it looks thick on your face) but if you blend it in it looks great. Colour matching is also good and it feels light on the skin as well.

  6. I can’t tell you enough how much I love this product. It give me a flawless finish, eliminates shine (which i am prone too) and just gives me an all round neat finish. It’s a great product and one of my favourites from MAC.

  7. Personally, I have never tried MAC before… but I’ve heard only good things about the brand. For the price, it’s what we would expect. I am about to give these high-end make-up brands a try as I’m going to do bridal make-up soon. This is definitely top of the list. I am looking for a good liquid foundation to use under the powder. Is there anything you can recommend, BSA? I am looking for full-coverage. Thanks so much. :)

  8. I’ve always had oily skin and until I used the MAC Studio Fix Powder nothing had worked. It has a creamy texture that gives you all day coverage. It comes in a compact disk form with a compartment for the application sponge on the bottom and a handy mirror for emergency touch ups. I’m not a huge fan of foundation but due to the marks left by my acne I needed something to give me a medium coverage and this is it. It’s quick and easy as it’s both foundation and powder in one. It’s also very light on your skin so it doesn’t feel like you have on a lot of makeup. But the best part has got to be the fact that it does not require constant touch-ups. It also comes in a variety of colors especially suited for South African skin tones so you won’t have to compromise on the shade. This compact goes everywhere with me and is an essential part of my make regime. A must have for anyone who has oily skin or just wants to stop the T-Zone shine.

  9. I love this powder. It creates the perfect finish. It make my skin looking matte without looking cakey. It is easy to apply and it lasts for hours.

  10. I loooove this powder. I’ve been using it for 2 years now and this is by far the best powder I’ve ever used. It mattifies my face immediately. I’m hooked!!!
