What we say:
The last time I applied a scented nail polish I was a little girl, and I thought it was the greatest invention ever. Twenty years on, I am once again presented with a fragranced nail enamel, but this time in much more mature packaging.

I have always been a fan of Revlon nail polishes, and when I saw the range of colours and the cute bottles with the black rubber lids, I was sold. I selected the shade Wintermint as I love pale green on my fingers and I couldn’t help but wonder what mint-flavoured fingertips would smell like. They also contain a fine pale blue glitter, which works really well with the minty green.

I made the mistake of opening the bottle and immediately bringing the brush close to my nose so that I could smell the mint… Do not do this! The perfume only develops once the product is dry, so instead of a minty fresh scent I knocked my own breath away by bringing the smell of nail varnish up close to my nostrils.

It took three coats of colour to cover my nails perfectly and when they were completely dry, I could finally smell the minty scent. I was disappointed that the smell only lasted a couple of hours, but perhaps my expectations were too high as I expected it to linger for a couple of days. After the first day I applied a clear top coat to seal the colour, and it lasted for four days before I noticed the first chip.

I liked the flavour of the polish as it was fresh and not overpowering, but I was slightly disappointed with the longevity of it.

  1. I bought the set containing “Spun Sugar” and “Bordeaux” a few months ago and I must say I’m not blown away by the formula. I did find that “spun sugar” lasted a little longer than “Bordeaux” but it’s still not amazing. Overall I’m not too impressed with Revlon nail polishes.
