What we say:
I seldom wear eyeshadow and when I do it is only neutral browns and golds. The Scandaleyes Eye Shadow stick in shade Gossip Green is a very subtle green, so I was willing to give it a try. The fact that it is in crayon form makes it easy to apply, however I found I still needed to blend it in to create a softer line. As I didn’t want to use my make-up brushes for cream shadows, I used my finger to blend it in which I found a bit clumsy.

Without an eyeshadow primer, the wear of the eyeshadow crayon wasn’t that impressive and with a few hours the colour had faded considerably. Perhaps with a primer the shadow would have lasted longer?

Based on the poor wear of the shadow I do not think that I would repurchase it again or try it in any other shade. Others may really like the shadow and cost-wise it won’t make a big dent in your pocket, but I think I will stick to powder eyeshadow.

  1. I was on the hunt for a dupe of Bobbi Brown’s eyeshadow sticks, and picked up 3 of these: 002 Bulletproof beige – which is actually more of a gold colour, 011 Bluffing – which is a medium brown, and 004 Guilty grey. All the shades I bought are the shimmery ones, and I got these colours so I could create a simple, natural look quickly and effortlessly. I’ve used them a few times, and I always use the Clarins Eye Perfecting Base under them, and I find they look very nice. I am a huge fan of cream eyeshadows, and I find these quick & easy to apply on days where I don’t have a lot of time to spend on my makeup. A little blending on the edges with the pinky finger and you’re good to go. They didn’t clump up in my crease which some cream eyeshadows do, which was great. The stick itself is wood I think, so perhaps the only way to sharpen them (since they don’t twist up) is to use the large option on a traditional pencil sharpener. I’m going to get more shades in these for sure!

  2. I tried the white eye shadow stick and I really liked the colour. It is easy and convenient to apply, but I needed to blend it in to smoothen the appearance and I found the colour faded quickly.
However when I came to the shadow, I could not sharpen the stick or twist it to bring down more shadow. Can anyone tell me what they did to get more shadow out?
I would love to try the other colours but until I find out how to get more shadow out, I will not buy it again

  3. I didn’t really enjoy using this product. It was my first time using a ‘crayon’ eye shadow stick, and will definitely be the last. I prefer the looseness and ease of working with a powder eye shadow. I found the crayon not as easily blendable.

  4. Wow, the advancement of a pencil for the eye shadow instead of the good old powder form.

  5. I love Rimmel products and decided to give the Gossip Green Eye Shadow stick a try. MY THOUGHTS: It really lasts and lasts – even when you swim it stays on. It is quite cost-effective in comparison to other eye shadows as the crayon will last you nearly a lifetime and the price does not break the budget. Intensely pigmented for deep colour. Safe for contact lens wearers. Looks amazing and glides on smoothly. Also easy to blend. I LOVE IT!

  6. I am a makeup fanatic and I simply love, the Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeshadow Stick. They easy to apply and last long.

  7. I was very excited to try this Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeshadow Stick because of how rich and pigmented they look. I chose the Gossip Green, which I thought would look great against my dark skin tone. It was very easy to apply, however, it did not give an even consistency across my eyelid. I had to use a finger to smudge it and make it even. Even after doing that, I did not like to look of the Scandaleyes Eye Shadow Stick Gossip Green on my eyes.

I would not purchase this again and I think I will be sticking to powder eyeshadow from now on.
