Mac lipsticks are packaged in bullet form containers, have great colour pay-off and come in a variety of colours and finishes. These finishes include matte, lustre, cream sheen, retro matte and amplified. Your lipstick experience, staying power, look and feel are affected by the finish of the lipstick.

For reds (such as Russian Red or Riri Woo), matte and retro mattes are a good choice due to their pigmentation and staying power (however they are also quite drying).

For nudes and light pinks (such as Creme d’Nude or Creme de-la Femme), I prefer cream sheen and lustres, as they are creamy and contain a sheen which compliments dark eye makeup well.

Amplified finishes contain the best of both worlds as they have great pigmentation and are not drying on the lips. This finish works well with pinks and purples, such as Girl About Town.

Although MAC can be costly, their lipsticks are a safe bet and investment for your makeup bag. Happy shopping!
