Feed your skin

Nivea

Just as you eat breakfast to give you energy for the day by refuelling your body when you wake up, your skin also needs a boost in the morning. Superfoods like Goji Berries are a powerful source of nutrition and nourishment for your skin as they contain high concentrations of minerals and micronutrients your body needs. When your body functions healthily, it promotes well-balanced, energised skin. If you are battling with dull and tired looking skin, find out how to get a dermatological wakeup call by feeding it from the inside out and from the outside in.

Known as antioxidant powerhouses, Goji Berries contain Beta-carotene, which is the orange-red pigment found in certain fruits and vegetables. Your body converts Beta-carotene into vitamin A, which is an essential nutrient to keep your immune system in balance. This nutrient protects your body and skin against free radicals, which damage cells through oxidation. It also helps reduce inflammation and UV damage from sun exposure, which leads to wrinkles, dull and tired skin, and sagging.

Apart from antioxidants, Goji Berries have 30 essential vitamins and minerals that include zinc, which accelerates the renewal of skin cells; iron, which carries oxygen through the blood stream; and copper, which helps to develop collagen and elastin. All three work to fight dull and tired-looking skin. Whether you eat this delicious superfood at breakfast baked in a muffin or apply it topically in your skincare, the benefits are numerous.

In your skincare
Try NIVEA Q10plus ANTI-WRINKLE Energising Day Cream SPF 15, which is suitable for sensitive skin and contains Goji Berry extract. Goji Berry extract reduces wrinkles and decreases signs of fatigue to give your skin a refreshed and radiant look. The day cream also has ingredients naturally found in young skin – Q10 and Creatine – which are powerful actives that with regular use reduce the appearance of wrinkles and help to prevent new ones. UVA protection helps to protect your skin against sun-induced wrinkles.

On your plate
Along with nourishing your skin from the outside, there are many other superfoods to add to your shopping basket to help improve your skin from the inside out. Add Pumpkin Seeds together with Goji Berries to your muesli in the morning. Pumpkin seeds are high in zinc and vitamin C and boost collagen production. You can also kick-start your day with melons that help detox your body. They pep up a sluggish metabolism. Snack on almonds, which have a high concentration of vitamin E that fights off free radicals. Include bananas and papayas in your fruit salad. These superfoods are packed with skin-strengthening vitamin C.
