Ombré lips: Get the look

Ombré lips: Get the look 1

Bold lips were all over the runway at Fashion Week, and we’re taking notice. How could we not?

A simple pop of colour can instantly brighten up any look. On our radar? Ombré lips!

Lisa Eldridge, make-up creative director of Lancôme loves the modern Korean-inspired lip art, characterised by a gradient of two shades. “Use two complementary shades for a chic look with a twist or pair two shades that are more contrasting – for example an intense orange and a vibrant bluish pink – for a more arty look. Combine textures to accentuate the contrasts,” she says.

It may seem daunting, but a few slicks of two shades of lipstick is all you need. Apply one shade to the corners of your lips and then add some lippy to the centre. You can opt for a matte or a glossy finish.

The Lancôme L’Absolue Rouge range, R399, is used above. It is perfect for this look as it nourishes your lips and won’t leave it dry. Lancôme has introduced Pro-Xylane® for the first time in a lipstick, which is a powerful molecule that helps re-shape and replenish the lips and offers hydration for eight hours. Indulge your lips with the most luxurious texture available in 14 absolutely rich varieties. These three shades caught our eye – and stole our collective hearts!

We all know the best way to achieve the perfect pout is to get lining. For a long-lasting effect, try LCN Permanent Lip Liner, R320. Contour and define those lips, and enjoy no smudging or running, thanks to the liner being water-resistant. It’s available in nine shades and contains vitamin E and camomile which care for your lips.

If you’re feeling daring and want to try another take on the ombré lip, simply line with one colour and apply a coat of a complementing colour to the centre. To get the bold look use Inglot Slim Gel Lipstick #64, R249, ideal for its unique lasting shine, rich colour pigment, and added primrose, vitamin E and avocado oil. Line the outer part of your lip and slick on Inglot Freedom lipstick, R149. Finish the look with Inglot Sleeks lip gloss #25, R249. Dabbed onto the centre of your lips, this will add some holographic flair to the look, which is super on trend.
