“Bob Marley is the biggest reggae star the world has ever known, and his life story and personal philosophy cannot be separated from his music. One Love gives viewers a glimpse into this fascinating man’s life, relationships and artistry, as well as a look into Jamaica in the mid 1970s.
The film takes us on a journey from the time Marley left Jamaica after an assassination attempt, to his prolonged stay abroad, until he returns to Jamaica for his famous peace concert that changed Jamaican politics. It captures all of the highs and the lows, with plenty of laugh-out-loud as well as emotional moments. It tells an incredible historical story but plays out in the most entertaining format.
The acting is superb – each character is fun and likeable (as they likely were and are in real life!) and they have the accents, clothing and mannerisms of Bob Marley and his band down to a tee. Kingsley Ben-Adir embodies Bob Marley effortlessly, bringing his spirit to life and reminding us why we love the musician in the first place. And then there is the music – expect to hear all the big hits, along with a few lesser known gems.
Regardless of whether you’re a reggae music fan or not, Bob Marley One Love is an absolute must-see. If you are a fan, however, you’re in for a major treat.”
