What we say:
I have never come across such an impressive tool as this one from BaByliss. The Secret Curler is the best invention I have yet come across in the hair world. I struggle to do curls using any other curling tong or styler. I never seem to create that perfect curl that I am after and I eventually give up.

When I decided to try this curling tool I was a bit scared at first as it looks quite intimidating. I thought I would never be able to use it. I watched the video once which explains how, and I followed those steps. To my surprise it is so simple and easy to use that I managed to curl my entire head in about 15 minutes. It has different time settings which will give you different curls depending on how long you choose. I like the 8 second timer as it gives me those loose waves I love. If you put your piece of hair in to curl, and it is in the wrong position it will beep at you to remove it and start over. So clever! It is fool-proof. This really is a life changing product for me and I suggest every girl should own one of these.

  1. I absolutely love my Babyliss Curler. My hair is super super long. (Hangs below my bum)and this curler just makes the most beautiful curls in a matter of seconds. I would say that if you are deciding to buy one of these. Go for it. Totally worth your money.Got mine for R1000 at Clicks a long time ago. It’s still in a perfect condition.

  2. I am unimpressed. It does not work as per the videos. A white elephant in my cupboard and a waste of my money.

      1. Hi, if u are still interested. I got mine for r1500 end of December 2020, we searched high n low for it but only tried once, my hair texture doesn’t curl with it. R1300

  3. After a lot of youtube demo watching and debate I finally gave in and bought the Babyliss Pro Curl Secret (it was on special at Clicks for R1199, not sure I would pay the full R1599 for it though.. thats a bit steep). But I can say for me it was so worth it!

My hair is quite long, mid black and it curled it amazingly! No tangling or getting stuck like some reviews have said, and it was so quick and easy! My entire head was curled in 10-15 mins (and I have thick hair). It even alternates the direction of the curls so they dont all lie in the same direction.

It also has 3 temperature settings and 3 time settings allowing you to control the tightness of your curls. The curls were so long lasting too, with just a bit of medium hold hairspray. I still had curls the next day when I woke up, my hair is naturally wavy though.
The only con I have found to this product so far is the high price. I must also note though that it barely worked on my sisters hair at all, even on the highest temp it made a slight curl which fell out within minutes, so it would be a huge waste of money for her.

I also tried it on my mom’s hair which is short (just touching shoulders) and it worked but it really didn’t look good, so it’s better for girls with slightly longer hair.

This curler is fantastic but it isn’t for all hair. Girls with very long (past mid back length) hair, girls with short hair (above shoulders), and girls with uncoloured hair (coloured hair has a lot more grip to it) may want to somehow test it first before going to buy it. If you cant try it and your still not sure, my view is that if your curls dont hold with tongs they probably wont with this either.

  4. This is a bit pricey for a hair curler. I recently cut my hair short and read some reviews that it doesn’t work that good with short hair.

  5. I am really happy I have come upon this review. I have been eyeing out the Babyliss curler in our local Clicks store. Since they did not have a demo model as well as a no return policy I was hesitant about purchasing. I hope I am still able to get one, if so I’ll be posting my review soon :)

  6. I tested out my friend’s babyliss curler recently, and was very impressed with the ease at which I could make curls. The babyliss curler is simple to use. However, I am not entirely sold yet on the product. The price is a tad expensive for a curler. Although similar products such as the GHD range sell around the same price.

  7. I was so tempted to buy one of these but it is very pricey so I would like to try it first as I have heard mixed reviews.. It does seem to curl hair really well and really fast but I have also seen videos advising that its not the greatest for very long hair as it gets stuck in the curler! :/

  8. I have initially seen the video for the BaByliss Secret Curler on the Clicks promo pamphlet. I was really amazed how quickly and easy a curl is created . It is a great curler. I just wish there was demonstration at the local Clicks branches. I would like to test this curler out before I make a purchase. I strongly believe in investing in any appliances.

  9. I have seen this products on TV and would really like to have one. I always struggle to get the right look with my curling tong. Just a bit pricey, need to save up a little.
