If you are looking to break out of your mascara comfort zone, this product is for you! I wouldn’t wear it during the day, but for fun, expressive evening eyes, it’s definitely eye-catching! It would also work for you if you wore specs – it creates such a dramatic effect that your lashes would make an impact from behind them.

The Miss Manga Mascara has me looking like a doll fresh out of the factory. The brush is well-shaped to reach even the tiny lashes at the inner corners of my eye, and the formula extends my lashes well beyond their natural length.
One of the extreme downfalls of the product is the packaging, particularly the misleading colours. I bought this mascara at a sale and grabbed whatever I could for a fraction of the selling price. The lid was a pink shiny cover. Only when I returned home did I realise that I had in fact purchased the L’Oréal Paris Mega Volume Miss Manga Punky Mascara in the colour Turquoise. This is in small print on the cardboard that the mascara comes attached against.
Now while I do enjoy funky looks occasionally (the brightly coloured lashes do attract a lot of attention), this was not what I had expected and had I paid the full price of R150, I certainly would have returned it. Be mindful to read the packaging fully before you purchase.
I also usually enjoy the waterproof mascaras as they do not leave me looking like a raccoon whenever I try to wash them off, but this is another downside of this mascara. It takes more than just face wash to remove.
On the whole (if you buy the right colour), this mascara is wonderful. It is worth the money if you don’t mind using an eye make-up remover when you need to remove. The effect is worth it!
I’ve heard absolutely amazing things about this product and I was really excited when I got one of my own.
Lets first talk about the 360º wand. What isn’t there to love! It makes getting to those hard to reach lashes that much easier. No more bending my wrist in all different kinds of positions. This mascara gives my lashes so much more volume and texture. I do however prefer the normal Miss Manga.
I purchased this product after my friends had raved on about it, as well as after reading the reviews here. I am simply in love. I have the shortest lashes ever and this product, paired with an eyelash curler, has created the most amazing look ever. My lashes have never looked longer, it did not flake and it lasted all day. For the price of R149.95, this product is simply a winner!
I have wanted to try the Miss Manga mascara since it launched, but I wasn’t too sure about the applicator, so I always gave it a skip. So when I finally got my hands on the Miss Manga Punky, I was very excited to try it out. The packaging is cute and fun, and the tube is a great shape too! I also loved the pop of green on the lid!
I was a bit uncertain when I saw the comb, as I was used to a thicker comb, with many bristles, so this wasn’t the type of wand I was used to. After I used the mascara, I loved the wand! It ensures that each eyelash is coated and it made a dramatic look – which I love. I found that the Punky look wasn’t as difficult to achieve as I thought it would be. The applicator does most of the work for you, so it didn’t take too much effort to get the desired punky look.
After application, my lashes definitely felt heavier. The look is great though. I am very fair, so often or not my eyelashes need a good coating of mascara, and I found with the Miss Manga Punky I didn’t need to apply multiple coats, 2 coats was sufficient. Removing the mascara was quite tricky – it holds up to its long-lasting promise.
The Miss Manga Punky is by far one of my new favourite mascaras – I definitely would purchase it again. I have been using another brand of mascara for years, but I think I have found my new replacement brand! There was no smudging after hours of wear – which was great, no panda eyes. I would definitely recommend this mascara – I have very sensitive eyes, so I often battle to find the perfect mascara that doesn’t irritate my eyes, and gives me the dramatic lashes I am looking for.
I bought the waterproof version of this mascara. I am so happy that is does not clump. It lengthens and gives my lashes so much volume, you will look like you have falsies on, I promise! The packaging is so trendy and looks so good on my counter. I am in love!
I was very excited to try this product as I love trying out new mascaras. I am always on the hunt for a mascara which is going to really open up my eyes, and give me the long lashes to help me achieve the sultry look.
The packaging is pretty normal and similar to most mascaras. The wand has 360 degree short spiky bristles – which looks pretty punky.
To note, this product does not have any curling properties, nor is it waterproof.
Application is super easy, the bristles really grip onto the lashes and make sure that they coat all the lashes evenly.
The texture of the mascara is great! Not too wet and not too thick, which is usually the problem I find with mascaras which promise volume.
I’ve found that only one coat is needed to leave your lashes looking very voluminous and long.
Product is very easy to build up, which is great for me, as I am always rushing out to work in the morning.
I love this! It leaves my eyes looking very pretty with minimal effort! I highly recommend it!
The tube looks big and bulky. The cap is a yellowish gold and looks almost toy-like, although the shape is great and easy to handle. There is no scent to the mascara and the tapered tip makes for easy application. The bristles are so tiny that the pressure on your lashes is so light and pleasant. The coating visibly lengthens and darkens lashes, although try not to blink after application because I smudged my under eye area. After it dries, the mascara is long-lasting and doesn’t even smudge after I rubbed my eyes. I tested the mascara on my mum, whose eyelash roots are turning grey, and with the small, flexible brush it was a piece of cake to cover all the greys, right till the very root. Your eyelashes feel like there is nothing on them when using MISS MANGA PUNKY, definitely a keeper!!!
The packaging is elegant. However, it fails to describe the word “manga”, which is generally outstanding and bold, representing one with a very playful nature. Someone like myself, who watches anime, would know what “manga” and “kawaii” means.
The bristles end in an arrow shape. The formula itself looks quite thick but applies on well and has a good consistency. The mascara itself smells like stroh rum, which is not a very appealing smell.
People have noticed that my lashes are longer, but I can’t really say that this product has changed the way my lashes look when compared to the Loreal Telescopic, which I think is better.
However, the product lasts very long and I feel that it looks dusty after a few hours, and needs to look a little glossier. I would repurchase this product, because it is a good product and works well, although I am unhappy with the smell.
Hearing about the Miss Manga Punky Mascara launch got me very excited, as I’m a “try all”, besotted with make-up kind of girl. The name of the product is luring, hip and fashion-forward.
What I like most about the packaging are the metallic colours the mascara comes in. I love black! So the black and metallic green packaging got my eyes wide and rearing to try the product out. The comb itself is great, as most combs seem to clump my short-ish African eyelashes up and don’t really extend them to my desired length. I really enjoyed this comb applicator as it is precise, applies the formula onto my lashes effortlessly and elongates them too.
Achieving the punky effect to my lashes was a breeze and a lot of my friends noticed the difference as well. My lashes seem to feel lighter, as if I weren’t wearing any mascara at all.
So one would probably think that after applying this fabulous mascara you’d struggle to get it off right? Well, wrong! The saying “easy peezy, lemon squeezy” definitely suites this product. I don’t have to use more than I usually do to remove it.
I’m so happy with this product, I’d definitely refer it to some friends and strangers too.
