What we say:
When it comes to make-up looks, there is nothing more beautiful than a clean complexion paired with a beautiful red statement lip!

In my opinion there is only one red lipstick that need be mentioned and that is MAC shade Russian Red. I have a cool skin tone, so I prefer lipstick shades that have a blue undertone and MAC have perfected that with Russian Red. It is the perfect true red that has just the right amount of cool tone in it!

If you are looking for a long lasting lipstick then MAC’s original lipstick formula is the one for you. I apply my lipstick with a lip brush as I find it to be the most precise application and once I have blotted my lips my lipstick is set for up to 4 hours. Considering this lipstick isn’t marketed as a “long wear” lipstick, I’d say 4 hours is pretty darn good, especially considering the fact that this lipstick can make it through eating!

The finish of this lipstick is the perfect mix of matte and high shine as it doesn’t have an overly glossy finish, but it stills has a touch of shine to it. Because it has a touch of shine to it, I also find that it isn’t as drying as most matte lipsticks.

I have two nude shades in this formula and I love them both equally. I honestly don’t think you can go wrong with this lipstick. With over 100 shades to choose from, you are bound to find our perfect shade for every season!

I think part of the reason why MAC has become so successful in the beauty industry is because of their lipstick line. The lipsticks are incredible, the pigment is insane and it last’s for so long. On a normal day at work I probably reply the lipstick once or twice. This product has become a huge part of my beauty routine, I actually wish I could insure all 30something of my mac lippies…from Heroine, Riri Woo, Daddys little girl, Up The Amp, Lady Danger, Dangerous, Candy Yum-Yum, Twig, Viva Glam 2, Cyber, Smoked Purple….the list is endless all. MAC lippies are on POINT!!!!!

Ok yes MAC lipstick is a little pricey but honestly they are worth it! Ive tried other lipstick brands and ive found they are a waste of my money really because I buy them use them once or twice and then never use them again. Once I moved to MAC I wear lipstick every day! They are just so creamy and have that signature MAC sweet vanilla scent. There is a wide variety of colour and even finishes, so anything from matte to frost to crème sheen etc. Honestly there is something for everybody. I keep two or three nude shades in my everyday handbag in case there is a moment that I need to add some colour to my lips as nude goes with anything and then I have a couple of their darker colours for when I want to add some drama to my look. Oh and how can I forget when MAC launches their signature collections, who doesn’t want a new fancy colour lipstick in an awesomely designed lipstick bullet?? You will never go wrong with MAC lipstick!

This is the most perfect lipstick ever created! The shades (when they are not sold out) are amazing, with great variety. It is long-lasting without drying out the lips and a beautiful subtle gloss. The ONLY complaint I have for this lipstick is that it has a tendency to get nicked by my family and friends, and therefore I have to keep buying more. It is clearly a well-loved product by both me and everyone around me.

I am TOTALLY obsessed with these lipsticks from MAC, I have so many. My favorite colour is The Pure Zen shade. The lippies are so creamy and long-lasting. They don’t dry out lips and have a shine to them. You can never be too kissable.

I purchased Ruby Woo for R195. It’s a retro matte lipstick. As I’m a lover of matte lipsticks and was in need of a red lipstick, I figured I’d give this a go. I can honestly say that I loved it from the first time I put it on. Being dark-skinned, I don’t find it easy to find lipstick shades that I’m comfortable wearing. The beauty of Ruby Woo isn’t only in its color, but in how long it lasts after one application. I definitely recommend this particular product, and it seems as though it suits people of all colors.

There is no other lipstick brand I trust more than MAC’s. My lips never feel dry or dehydrated – as with other brands. The variety of evolving colours is fantastic.. A reoccurring item on my birthday list!!

  • I recently purchased my first MAC lipstick (I’ve used their glosses before) in the colour Hot Gossip which is a Cremesheen formula.

The MAC store can be daunting, there’s something for everyone which means there are tons and tons of colours and formulations so I did my research and Cremesheen was a hit. It’s creamy, the colour payoff is great and the packaging is classic MAC.

The colour itself: I struggle to find pink shades to suit my Indian skintone (NC40) but Hot Gossip is absolutely perfect for me! I love it!

Mac lipsticks are packaged in bullet form containers, have great colour pay-off and come in a variety of colours and finishes. These finishes include matte, lustre, cream sheen, retro matte and amplified. Your lipstick experience, staying power, look and feel are affected by the finish of the lipstick.

For reds (such as Russian Red or Riri Woo), matte and retro mattes are a good choice due to their pigmentation and staying power (however they are also quite drying).

For nudes and light pinks (such as Creme d’Nude or Creme de-la Femme), I prefer cream sheen and lustres, as they are creamy and contain a sheen which compliments dark eye makeup well.

Amplified finishes contain the best of both worlds as they have great pigmentation and are not drying on the lips. This finish works well with pinks and purples, such as Girl About Town.

Although MAC can be costly, their lipsticks are a safe bet and investment for your makeup bag. Happy shopping!

  • If there is one thing a woman likes, it’s consistency. That is what I get with MAC Lipstick. It lasts long. The colours are outstanding and not a lot of brands can boast about having a colour range to suit all different kinds of needs. I feel spontaneous and confident.

If you are looking for a deep purple lipstick for the winter/fall time, I would HIGHLY recommend the Mac lipstick in the shade Hang-up. The shade varies based on the amount of coats you apply on your lips which is great because if you are looking for a more natural look, you simply apply one or two coats and if you are looking for a sultry night look you simply apply a few more coats. Unlike the MAC matte lipsticks which I had tried out, I thought that this one was very hydrating and lasting.

This is one of the few dark lipstick shades that I have found from MAC that compliment medium-dark skin tones.
BONUS! It works well without a primer and keeps lips moisturized all day (I only had to re-apply once and I felt no need to put any lip balm on before or after)
