We have always adored the original YSL Black Opium, so when we heard about its newest sister scent (which is in stores right now, by the way), we took note! A gorgeous addition to any fragrance collection just before the cooler weather hits, this latest showstopper from YSL is the perfect fragrance for a night out.
Seductive and alluring, Black Opium Eau De Parfum Intense is bolder and stronger than its precursor. The perfumer was inspired by the essence of blue absinthe, a blue-green controversial liqueur flavoured with aromatic herbs, banned in some countries due to its hallucinogenic effects. With anis and sweet blue boysenberry, it is the key top note of the fragrance. You’re immediately drawn in by this mysterious scent – unusual and intoxicating, it leaves you curious (and wanting more!).
The heart of the fragrance is none other than gorgeous jasmine sambac absolute and orange blossom absolute, a pairing that can do no wrong. These notes warm the exotic scent before exposing coffee at the base – an integral ingredient in the Black Opium family. It’s joined by liquorice, sandalwood and vanilla for a creamy-rich bottom note.
The combination of blue absinthe and coffee is bold and unlike anything we’ve smelled before. Daring like the night, magnetic and intense, the fragrance is housed in a bottle that perfectly represents the scent. Inspired by the hues of blue absinthe and embodying the stars in the night sky, the sparkly deep blue bottle is almost as seductive as the fragrance itself.
We’re loving how unique and different it is while staying true to the essence of Black Opium. It’s definitely a night-time fragrance, although you may find yourself tempted to spray it during the day as well (it’s THAT good!).
