Question: Facial Cleansing And Sunscreen

Hi Dr Allem. My little girl is 2½ and I apply sunscreen to her face every day (she goes to school and they play outside). What is the best way (products to use) to wash her face? Water won't be enough and I don't want to dry her skin out with body soap. She has sensitive, eczema-prone skin. Can I use a gentle cream cleanser? Or will that be too harsh?

Answer

I’m so glad that you are doing this for your little girl! She will most certainly thank you when she is older! By all means please continue with her sunblock every day. As far as cleansing her skin, I would suggest you use something very mild that is not at all active or abbrassive, like Cetaphil cleanser. It is available from from all major pharmacies.
