Question

What is a shimmer powder used for?
I have very oily skin, what kind of foundation can I use that won’t make my skin oily?

Answer

Thank you for your question. Shimmer powder is used when you are going out, or for a special occasion to add some shine and glow and radiance to your "make-up". If you place it where you place a highlighter, like on top of the apple of your cheeks, it will make you look like you have prominent cheekbones, or highlight them further if you have high ones. Another tip is to use a dot of shimmer powder on the centre of your lower lip, over gloss if you want to look like you have fuller lips.
If you are worried about your make-up or foundation making you look oily you can consider the following: At Skin Renewal we offer Heliocare compact SPF 50, which is a high SPF daily photoprotective covering make-up which is easy to reapply during the day and it will not make your skin oily. Or we can offer you Lycogel breathable camouflage which has an SPF of 30. If you are suffering with oiliness in general and not necesarily looking for a cover product, one of our brands that we stock for oiliness, Lamelle, offers an oral supplement called Acnevelle, which is a zinc supplement for the control of oily skintypes. You can safely use any of these options and still use your shimmer powder over these without any issues. Question from Lizelle Lloyd

Question

Hi Dr Maureen,

I am a 31 yr old mother with very limited time for skincare routine. I have recently been diagnosed with scalp atopic dermattis and have been put on a course of antibiotics for a full month. Ive only had severe cases after all three of my pregnancies with my last one been 8 months ago. How can I prevent this from returning and what products would you recommend for my scalp-keep in mind I have very curly ethic hair making it very difficult to use some products as I need extra moisture and conditioner for my hair. I have also recently noticed a mild case of eczema on my breast-making breastfeeding quite challenging.

Please help :)

From Tshehlana Noge

Question

Hi Dr Maureen, I have oily skin and in my 30s. I’m looking for a skincare treatment that will assist with clearing my skin and keep the oiliness at bay as well as serve as an anti aging. It doesn’t have to be in the same jar. I’m currently using Mineraline Time-it products for anti-aging, but it’s not doing anything for the oilyness and the random breakouts. Please could you advice.
