What they say:
Gillette Fusion ProGlide Power Razor has seven high precision advances featuring re-engineered lead blades with thinner, finer edges. Like any good gift, Gillette Fusion ProGlide razors incorporate a series of unique technologies that address the primary causes of shaving discomfort.
Gillette Fusion ProGlide Shave Gel has more lubricants for less cutting force, delivering Gillette’s best glide. The Fusion ProGlide hydrating formula with shea butter and glycerine helps keep skin hydrated during a shave and reduces the look and feel of shaving irritation for a smooth shave.
Gillette 3in1 Hydration Moisturiser is an instantly hydrating, lightweight, non-greasy balm with vitamins B3, E, pro-vitamin B5, which help condition skin, and SPF15 to help protect skin from UVA/UVB rays.
What we say:
Having never bothered to upgrade my shaving equipment from my Gillette Mach3 to any newbies on the market – I was happy with the results, sue me – I was glad to have the opportunity to test the new Gillette Power Razor.
After using a facial scrub I applied Gillette’s Fusion ProGlide Shave Gel, R65.99, to clean skin. The thick gel went on smoothly and held firmer for longer, when compared to other shaving gels I’ve tried. It foamed quickly when I rubbed it on my skin, but didn’t lose any consistency. A small amount goes a long way, and by small I mean a blob the size of a R5 coin. The gel smelled great, and I was tempted to not use any aftershave or balm. But I do strongly believe aftershave or balm helps if you have sensitive skin or are susceptible to a shaving rash. I also noticed that my blades lasted a lot longer while using Gillette Fusion Gel.
Then came the Gillette Power Razor, R109.99. I was so impressed by it, that I’ve dubbed it the ‘Smooth Operator’. At first I doubted the vibrating mechanism, as I didn’t think it would give me a closer shave. But, I have to retract my statement, as I probably had the closest shave ever. And yes, I tried the razor without the vibrating function as well, just to be sure, and the results were just as close. The razor is well weighted and balances nicely in my hand – it feels firm, with a gentle rubbery grip. Personally, though, I think there are too many blades, which hinders getting it into tight corners, like just below the nose and trying to trim side burns takes some skill.
Sadly, the Gillette Fusion Aftershave Balm, R69.99, wasn’t as great a product as I had hoped it would be. But the fragrance did smell fresh and was somewhat cooling.
