How to navigate Black Friday like a pro

How to navigate Black Friday like a pro 2

Black Friday is around the corner, and for beauty enthusiasts that means one thing – a chance to nab your favourite products at a fraction of the regular price. But the allure of Black Friday can be overwhelming, and if you go in without a plan, you may find yourself disappointed. We’ve compiled some useful tips to help you not only navigate the sales, but get the most out of the deals on offer.

Make a list
Sit down and think about what you need and want, and then write it down. Is your favourite fragrance almost empty? Are you about to run out of eye cream? Knowing what you’re looking for is half the battle won. Going in with a plan also ensures you won’t forget about something (only to remember once the sales are over).

Compare prices
It’s as simple as this: some stores (or online platforms) offer better deals than others. If the product you’re after is sold at more than one retailer, shop around at all of them to find the best deal.

Set a budget
The problem with discounts in general is that they’re extremely alluring, and you often end up buying things you don’t need (or don’t love), simply because they’re sold at a good price. We recommend setting a budget, and sticking to it. Purchase the most important items on your list, first. Once the money’s depleted, stop shopping. You’ll only be tempted to buy things you don’t really need.

Shop for things you love
Have you ever found yourself buying something on sale, knowing that you wouldn’t have paid full price for it, but at the discounted price, you’ll give it a go? This is how most of us end up buying and owning things we don’t love. Not to get too Marie Kondo on you, but think about it – wouldn’t you rather love everything you buy? Before you hand over the cash, ask yourself if you love or really need the product, and if you do, go for it!

Stock up
Stocking up on items you purchase over and over is a great way to save some cash. When it comes to items you use all the time and keep repurchasing (think items like soap, cotton pads, razor blades, shampoo etc.), you may want to stock up for the next couple of months to get the most out of your savings.

Buy gifts
Black Friday is conveniently close to the festive season, making it the perfect opportunity to stock up on beauty and grooming gifts for your loved ones. Some department stores offer 3-for-2 deals, which is particularly great if you’re purchasing higher value items like gift sets or fragrances.

Allow for an indulgence
Although we’re all about practicality and mindful spending, like all true beauty junkies we can’t help but indulge every once in a while. If you’ve had your eye on a pricey fragrance or luxurious eyeshadow palette, there is no better time to treat yourself than Black Friday. After all, you’re unlikely to get an equivalent discount any other time.
