How to: Up your brow game

eyebrows

Up until recently, eyebrows were the most underrated part of the face. Though they often get the least amount of attention, a little bit of grooming can completely transform your look, and give your make-up a more rounded-off or completed appearance.

With celebs like Cara Delevingne and Amal Clooney sporting full brows, it’s become a big trend and we’re hoping it’s here to stay. Here are five products that’ll make your eyebrow grooming session a tad easier:

Smashbox Brow Tech Matte Pencil, R290
We love this ultra fine tip – it allows you to fill in sparseness with small flicks, which mimics the appearance of real hairs. Plus it’s water, sweat and humidity resistant too, making it perfect for summer.

Maybelline Brow Satin Smoothing Duo Pencil & Filling Powder, R109.95
This duo pencil was one of the most innovative of 2015. Get the shape you want with the gel pen, and then fill the gaps with the creamy powder end. It blends beautifully and looks very natural.

L’Oréal Paris Brow Artist Plumper, R129.95
If you struggle with volume, this is the product for you. This gel mascara contains fibres that attach to the hairs of your brows, making them appear fuller and more voluminous. If you have very dark eyebrows, you may want to fill them in with a pencil before applying this product. If you prefer lighter brows, simply use this on its own.

L’Oréal Paris Brow Artist Genius Kit, R169.95
This adorable little kit contains a pigmented wax and a darker powder to apply over it, a small angled brush, spooley brush and mini tweezers. It’s great for travelling and allows you to glam up your brows no matter where you are.

Eylure Permanent Tint For Brows, R129.99
Don’t have the time to fill your brows in every day? This tint is safe and easy to use, and gives you medium to dark brown eyebrows for up to six weeks!

  1. I’ve been looking for a good eyebrow kit! Thank you sooo much for introducing me to the L’Oreal Brow Artist Genius Kit x

  2. I use an eyebrow stencil to fill in mine, it makes such a difference! Thin eyebrows are such a thing of the past :)

  3. I had the most record breaking eye brow was in December, I wont mention the name of the salon that I went to, but the beautician waxed and tweezed in under 10mins. needless to say I was less than impressed. The funny thing is though – I said to her “please take your time” and her reply was, “I always do” LOL

  4. I have naturally thin eyebrows, and I fill in my brows everyday, I’ve made a brow comb/brush my favorite for about a year now.

  5. I have my brows shaped and tinted once a month at my salon and thereafter all is maintenance free. Really worth the 100 Rands.

  6. I luckily don’t have full eyebrows, and I actually prefer my eyebrows this way, I can always fill them up when I want to, or I just leave them this way for a natural day to day look. :)

  7. I’m lucky enough to have natural full brows, but they still require so much maintenance, as I have to make sure they don’t look like massive caterpillars on my face. I have them either threaded or waxed, and use the Essence tinted brow gel to shape them and keep them looking polished and full.
