Is permanent make-up safe?

Hi Dr. I would like to get permanent make-up done. Do you advise against it? I heard it’s not an industry that is regulated in SA.

Is permanent make-up safe?Permanent make-up can produce amazing results! I have seen some artistic masterpieces and on the other hand, some disasters! Therefore it is very important to check your therapist’s training, skill and experience. Ask her to show you her (own) work’s portfolio of clients. Although the industry is not tightly regulated, a technicians clients will be the best evaluation of her skill.

Best regards

  1. Oooe, firstly it looks painful, needles and all. I agree, that will take the fun out of make up.

  2. I have to agree with Sammy. I love changing my look so permanent make-up will leave me feeling bored. I really love being able to try different make-up looks as it’s way more fun :)

  3. Removing permanent makeup, is a painstaking, slow process. It can take several visits to a doctor to permanently remove the ink, and it’s an expensive, painful procedure. Is it really worth the pain?

  4. Yes permanent make-up would make life much easier but would you really want to stick to the same style shade, colour etc. I would not opt for this I enjoy changing my look it is fun.

  5. I have yet to come across someone who actually looks good with permanent makeup. It just seems so harsh and almost permanently painful. I’d much rather apply liquid liner on a daily basis than go for the treatment.

  6. I don’t think permanent make up is neccessary. As Ayesh said, part of the fun of make up is being able to change it everyday and sometimes just simply enjoying your natural beauty.

  7. Personally, this is not something I would ever try. The whole point about make-up, is to be able to change your look along with your mood. If the stuff’s permanent, where’s the fun in all of it? I mean, sure… every girl wishes she could just step out of the house and be looking fabulous without the added effort, but permanent make-up? Not for me. I wouldn’t want to be walking around with eyeliner and mascara 24/7. I love taking my make-up off at the end of the day!
