I always had a problem with black eyeliners smudging and not lasting, leaving my eyes looking like I am in desperate need of sleep or a good eye cream. The Glimmerstick from Avon I found however was the easiest application and last for the entire day without me having to touch up and fix. I can’t go without it now.

I buy the Avon Glimmerstick in black to use as an eyeshadow and liner! I love the way it lasts long and does not smudge. It is hard to come by black eyeshadow and some of them tend to become a bit untidy after an hour or so and faded. The glimmerstick lasts for hours and I also underline my bottom eyeliner – it is GREAT for smokey eye effect.

I am not one to use lip liner, unless I want to define my lips. When I first opened this product, I was impressed by the pink hue. I received Pink Bouquet and was eager to use it for my next girly look. I was sorely disappointed as when applying to my lips it was a huge difference compared to my first impression swatch on my hand. On my lips, the liner did not move smoothly across the surface of my lips. I did not have the liner out very much, as I am aware this causes breaks. Even with my cautious nature, my liner broke on my lip. After a lot of patience, gentle strokes and going over the colour – I finally managed to get the perfect tone. This requires more work than it should, it is not pigmented enough and is too hard to slide across your lips. Not something that I plan on purchasing for myself, in the future.

The eyeliner glides on easily and I must say even with wiping my eyes a few times, the eyeliner stayed on for more than an hour.
PRO: The price. Quite cost-effective. Also great for contact lens wearers.
CON: Not waterproof, so need constant touch-ups after about an hour. One loses the fine edge after the first use, which leaves one able to draw only a thicker line.

This Ultra Glimmerstick is part of the new and improved Glimmerstick range because the previous Glimmerstick lipliner range has been discontinued in Brochure 10. The lipliner comes in a sleek, strong black casing (resembles a pencil) with shimmering silver writing and a wrap-around colour code around the end of the casing. Inside the casing is a retractable lipliner. As you all know I’m crazy about the colour purple, so I was really excited when I got this lipliner. The shade is exactly the same shade as the colour code. When applying the lipliner, the texture is soft, smooth and softens against lips giving you a perfect application with no streaks or smudges. I was quite impressed with the rich colour pay off. The lipliner lasted around four to five hours and stuck around through lunch and frequent drinks of water. I was quite impressed, I also like the fact that this lipliner doesn’t bleed into lip lines. Plus you can use your lipliner as a lipstick, simply apply it to lips and add lip balm or lipgloss over!

The price, the Glimmerstick lipliners retail at around R90 per Glimmerstick unless they on offer, so it’s quite expensive unless its on offer.
I would recommend you give the Avon Ultra Glimmerstick a try, mainly because it gives an absolutely rich colour pay off, I would wait for it to be on offer though, but if rich, creamy colour is what you’re looking for, then this lipliner is definitely for you.

When it comes to eyeliner, I only use Avon’s Glimmerstick Blackest Black eyeliner. It applies easily, it does burn your eyes and it stays on the whole day. Love this product especially when I go swimming, it doesn’t smudge.
