Honestly, I think it is okay… I think it works for dry or combination skin because it is somewhat oily. I would recommend you buy it because it is worth the money as it makes make up last long.

This primer has been so hyped about in the beauty industry I have to admit when I bought it I had high expectations. This is great for everyday use but if you want that flawless look then skip this primer.

At first glance, I was really surprised at the size of this product. I honestly thought it would be much bigger than it was. Anyways, I bought it and had to try it out that very same day. At first I didn’t like the result because it flaked off my skin. I wasn’t sure if it was meant to do this.

However, the next time I tried it I used it after 5 minutes of letting my day cream absorb into my skin. Clearly I was wrong the first time I used it because this product worked magic on my pores!! The area I applied the silicon was along my T-zone because that is my troubled area. Anyways, The silicon made my nose in particular so smooth. I followed up by using my foundation and it applied so easily over my T-zone. Usually, my nose is really bumpy even when I apply my primer and then my foundation but after using Baby skin it was so smooth and even.

According to the information on the tube, it states that this product is an ‘instant pore eraser.’ To be honest, I felt that this made my pores smooth for the purpose of applying your foundation or powder on an even canvas, but my pores were still visible. It blurs your pores more than erases them completely. I personally feel that they over exaggerated the claim that it erases your pores.

I read a few reviews on this product and people claim that this product can act like a primer. I don’t agree. I felt that this doesn’t make my makeup last longer, but it does make it look more even on your skin.

Okay, so a bit more information about the product…

It looks like a transparent gel texture. You only need to apply a pea-size amount along your problem areas. It is also fragrance-free. Once applied, it gives you a smooth, satiny finish.

It comes with a small nozzle which is better because it allows you to control how much of the product comes out. It is important to remember that a little goes a long way with this product. It isn’t good to put too much of silicon on your skin.

This product is a bit expensive for the amount that you get. It retails for R82.50 at Dischem and Clicks stores. I mentioned in the beginning that this is the dupe for the Benefit Pore-fessional. I heard from a fellow blogger who attended to Benefit cosmetics launch that it will retail for about R395.00. Initially, I thought that the Maybelline Baby skin was really expensive but compared to the Pore-fessional I think it is quite worth it. It really makes your makeup look more natural since your skin is even.

I love this primer. It’s got a thick consistently but its so smooth with you apply it to your face. I use primer every time I apply my makeup and I am so happy that I purchased this. I love the packaging! I also love that it makes my make up last long and makes my foundation look smoother on my face. I battled to find fault with this product!

I call this primer my holy grail. It is affordable and a little goes a long way, it leaves my skin feeling soft and light and it really does minimise my pores and reduces oil on my face. Sometimes I wear it alone when I don’t feel like wearing make-up.

  • Especially if you’re still at school and not working (like me) this was a really good purchase because it is affordable and works well! Pore minimisers like the benefit or smash box ones are really expensive so I am super happy with this product. It makes my skin softer to prep for my foundation or BB cream, it obviously wont completely close all pores but it does a little bit of closing up. Also it doesn’t break me out or produce any grease :)

This is a good primer for the price, does it fill in all my pores? Unfortunately not, I have oily skin so my pores will always be an issue. But it does a pretty good job of giving me an even silky surface, ensuring a smooth foundation application, so if you’re looking for an affordable easily available product, I highly recommend this one.

Based on a blogger’s review, I recently dashed to my closet Dis-Chem to get hand on this primer. I have tried all types of primers, however found it did nothing as promised. After applying make-up in the morning, by midday my make up would look cakey and dry. I suffer from dry skin and since using this product, my make up lasts all day and it locks in the moisture in. I would highly recommend this product, as it definitely is more appropriate for dry skin. A definite plus is that the product is only R90. What do you have to lose???

I was so excited when I grabbed the last tube of this little magician at my local department store. I love the smooth texture and how it pro-longs my make up. Its clear colour doesn’t affect your makeup shade. The tube makes it easy to dispense and avoids wasteage. Like with most Maybelline products the design is super trendy.
It is a but moist for my super oily skin but it was perfect for the winter months.
