Being a Civil Engineer and a beach lover, my skin is often exposed to the sun all day, leaving my face shiny, sticky and often burnt.
I decided to try Maybelline Clear Smooth All-In-One Shine Free Cake Powder, 02 Nude Beige, based in the packaging. The compact is an attractive round edged rectangular shape, it has a nice big mirror (as opposed to small round compacts) and the application sponge is found next to the powder. I really dislike the compacts where you have to flip the part of powder up to retrieve the application sponge in the compartment underneath, I often end up cracking my powders, and makes retrieving the sponge underneath a messy job!
The powder really does what its meant to do! My skin is left flawless and shine-free almost all day (I apply the powder twice a day). I am also very happy of the fact that this powder has a SPF of 25 as well, which is great in preventing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines due to skin damage!
Seeing as I have sensitive skin, which often powders leave my skin itching or feeling caked up, this powder is light and I get the feeling my skin is still able to “breathe”.
All in all, I love this product and if I didn’t want to test out other powders, I would wear this everyday for the rest of my life! It’s also affordable!

This powder is a great foundation finish :) The only problem is the packaging, I chipped my nail polish trying to open it :(
I loved the compact pink packaging and the spf was an added bonus. This blended nicely with my skin, I liked the texture and finish but was poor at controlling shine. After a few hours I looked like a vetkoek!

I was so incredibly pleased when I found this product – it gives lovely, even cover and stays on for hours! It is definitely one of the best products I’ve tried in ages! Also, the colours are slightly more versatile than most pressed powders I’ve used.
I have really oily skin and this product works perfectly for me. When I use it, my skin looks amazing. It has a matte finish and there is no more shine.
I have this in the toffee shade which is a great match for my skin. I also love the pink mirrored compact and bought one for my handbag too. For me it’s a full cover powder that conceals, mattifies, mops up my oily shine and provides me with enough cover so that I can wear it alone and not over foundation as I do with other brands. This is a great multipurpose powder that is cheap, versatile and reasonably long wearing.
I am currently using Charlie, but from the reviews, the packaging, price and the appeal, I am definitely going to buy this when my current powder finishes.
I have only ever used Yardley’s powder foundation. Seeing as it’s almost all up now, I would love to try another one. Maybelline Clear and Smooth looks great. I have yet to find a powder foundation that does not cake… I am eager to try this one! It looks quite small, though. I will have to see it in store before I really make a decision. Can’t wait to try it.
