Maybelline SuperStay 24hr lip colours

Maybelline’s new SuperStay 24-hour lip colour, stretches the limits of longwearing lippie. It’s micro-flex formula means it goes on and stays put without caking, crumbling or feathering.

What we say:
‘I wore their pink, shimmery shade, Sparkling Fuchsia, over the weekend and was very impressed with its serious “stay put-ability”. After applying it, you need to wait a good two minutes for the shade to set. Next, you slick on a bit of the balm you’ll find attached to the back of the double-ended wand.
Initially, I worried that swiping the balm over the colour would erode it somewhat, but it didn’t effect it in the slightest. It merely added a nice dose of moisture to my lips, because without it, I’d find the colour a bit drying. Still, I did notice that the very slight drying effect of Maybelline SuperStay is NOTHING compared to that of the “old school” longwearing lippies of the 90’s. Clearly formulations have really evolved… As far as wear goes, yes, some of the microglitter wore off throughout the day, but the actual colour itself survived lunch, supper, several drinks and kisses. I even made a point of wearing it to bed and when I woke up, it was still there without a smear or feather in sight.

‘To take it off, simply apply a few sweeps of an oil-based make-up remover. In all, this is without a doubt the most diehard longwearing lippie I’ve ever used. If you need colour that seriously sticks around, this is your new best friend.’

  1. I don’t do a lot of make up. Since I am TV journalist doing on-camera field presenting, I at least have to wear lipstick. There are 4 things I hate about lipstick. 1. You continuesly have to reapply it. 2. It stains you teeth. 3. It leaves marks on other people if you have to kiss them 4. Worst of all it leaves marks on glasses, cups and muggs if you drink from it. So when I had to use lipstick, I went through everything which I could find that said stayfast and long lasting or something along those lines. Unfortunately actually all such claims for all products on the market are lies – to put it plain and simple. The product that comes the closest to the truth of what they claim to be is Maybelline’s SuperStay 24hr lip colour. If you make sure it doesn’t stain your teeth when you apply it, you can be sure it will not stain your teeth, nor does it leave marks on someone else or on any container your drink from. Although it lasts much longer than any of the other Stayfast or longstay of superstay or whatever stay lipsticks out there it definately doesn’t last 24hours. I at least have to reapply 3 times during a day in the field. And have make sure every time I go on camera that there is still enough because it also flakes after a few hours. And why doesn’t the moisturiser last as long as the actual lipstick?

  2. Initially, I liked this lipstick but I later realized that after a few hours the lipstick becomes very dry and flakes off your lips. Not pretty

  3. The reviewer is very right. This is a real die hard. LOVE IT! But I would advise to keep some extra lipbalm just for the sake of hydrating.

  4. Thanks for a wonderful review Leigh, i will definitely buy this product. i don’t have time to check my lipstick and re-apply during the day.

  5. Its amazing how long it stays on and smudge proof. The balm has to be kept with at all times to give that added moisture.
