These are so cool, and they come in funky shades that last. Two coats are enough for dark colour and coverage.

This brilliant little beauty offers great coverage at a great price. I got this one for free with a popular mag a while ago but it retails for around R49.99 at Dischem as well as online.
It has the perfectly shaped brush and with 3 swoops your nails are done, high shine and this colour really does suit every skin tone. Great for pedicures especially in spring and summer time.

Catrice Ultimate Nail Lacquers offers affordable nail polish that doesn’t lack on quality. These nail lacquers are available at R45 for 10ml of product. They offer a wide range of colours, including glitter polishes and other effects.
The polish lasts around 5 days for me usually, which isn’t great. The flat brush makes application a dream! Another plus point is that you get complete opacity with one coat and it applies streak free.
Overall, I think these are excellent and affordable nail polishes.

I will admit I was drawn to Catrice polishes because of the price and the great colours. They really do offer a wide variety of bright, exciting shades.
The brush is broad and flat and the polish goes on smoothly. I found that I had to use at least 3 coats to get a opaque, definite colour. What I found tricky about applying the polish was the lid. The lid is really big and difficult to grip which ruined the application.
Unfortunately my make or break with nail polishes is how long they last, and Catrice let me down here.
So if you’re looking for that perfect shade to match your new dress for a night, this is the polish for you but give it a miss if you need a week long fix.

The nail polishes could only last a full day on my hands. They are so easy to chip and peel off. The brush applicator is stumpy, making it awkward and messy to work with.

I got a few of these polishes as a gift and was really excited to try them. I love the bright shades and the way the polish has a thickness to it when it goes on. I also found that with a top coat it lasted really nicely. However, I found the lid difficult to hold when painting my nails and the brush shape made it a little messy to use.

The Catrice brand really provides affordable yet quality products. I recently bought the Ultimate Nail Lacquer in the colour 16 George Blueney. The bottle looks stylish with a black lid, and the brush is wide for great application. This colour is a dark shade of blue that shimmers in the light. It also lasted quite a few days without chipping. Definitely worth a try if you haven’t used this brand yet.

After reading about this new affordable but supposedly good quality nail varnish, I bought 2 bottles and couldn’t wait to try them! I got a peachy nude colour as well as a golden glittery shade which looked amazing in the bottle. But…
The glittery shade was terrible and clumpy and had very little shine, rather a coarseness to it. The staying power of the normal polish was not great at all (2 days with a base and top coat) but the glitter polish was resistant to cutex remover and required lots of rubbing and picking.
Sometimes you get what you pay for, which in this case was true for me…
Long lasting, vibrant colors and very well priced!

To tell you the truth, I heard of Catrice but I really didn’t know the products were available at DisChem and were quite affordable, I was walking around DisChem when I came across the Catrice section, I had a look at the nail polishes and I was hooked. The polishes were so bold and exquisite, and they had certain polishes which were dimension polishes (polishes which change colour when you turns your nails.
I purchased 840 Genius In The Bottle, which is a dimension polish, the colours change between gold, turquoise, green and blue. I actually really liked the colour in the bottle which is why I purchased it, I also love dimension polishes (I have a collection of Yardley Twist Polishes which are dimension polishes).
As soon as I opened the bottle I was happy to see the application brush was wide enough to paint my nails perfectly without streaks and lines, because the polish has dimensions, imperfections can’t really be seen. The colour is so intense that I actually only needed one coat of the polish.
The polish took less than 5 minutes to dry, and had a beautiful finish, the polish felt sheer on my nails, and my nails felt like they had no polish on at all. The polish has a lovely colour and texture and I will certainly be purchasing different colours.
I’d recommend this product to anyone who loves nail polishes which are unusual and stylish. This product is also very economical and cost around R35 which I feel is very affordable for a nail polish like this.
