It is no secret that our lives have changed drastically over the past two years. The Covid-19 pandemic turned our world around, and many people are still feeling the effects of it, be it financially, health-wise or emotionally.

In 2020, Google searches for “insomnia” hit all time highs around the world. In the same year, a report from trend forecaster WGSN found that 52% of millennials struggle to sleep as a result of stress.

There’s no doubt the Covid-19 pandemic – with its far-reaching and ongoing impact – has deepened wellbeing challenges for millions around the world. A recent survey by The Body Shop UK revealed 6 in 10 respondents feel anxious. At the same time, self-care overtook skincare as the most commonly used beauty hashtag, indicating a widespread interest in mindful practices to unwind, cope with stress and increase resilience.

It’s in direct response to this wellbeing and sleep crisis – and the obvious need for purposeful and effective self-care tools – that The Body Shop has launched its newest ‘Wellness’ range, comprising three transformative routines: Sleep, Boost and Breathe. The expert-developed range is infused with powerful essential oils, carefully crafted into three unique blends.

“This range is uniquely important to The Body Shop,” explains Carlos Jardim, General Manager of The Body Shop South Africa. “Not only have we drawn on 46 years of expertise in creating meaningful beauty rituals, based on our philosophy that beauty must nurture the human spirit, but the new Wellness range is about helping people to recharge, reconnect and re-energise – all of which have become deeply and increasingly important to our wellbeing.”

The new Wellness range’s four-step Sleep routine is clinically proven by the European Sleep Centre to help you sleep better and wake stronger. Enriched with 100% natural and biodegradable lavender and vetiver essential oils, the routine includes Relaxing Hair & Body Wash, Balmy Body Cream, Calming Pillow Mist and an Essential Oil Blend that’s applied on your pulse points to prepare your mind for sleep.

The four-step Boost routine is enriched with mandarin and bergamot oils, known for their potent re-energising properties. Using it in the morning helps to start the day with positive energy.

Then, when it’s time to clear a foggy mind, the four-step Breathe routine harnesses the power of eucalyptus and rosemary to help you reconnect and find your calm.

All products in the Wellness range are vegan certified and come in sustainable packaging, using premium glass and aluminum materials. Its sensorial textures elevate daily rituals, helping to carve out time and intention amid daily pressures to prioritise meaningful self-care.
