We visited The Silo Spa for the Rooftop Rendezvous experience, and it was magnificent

There is nothing quite like a spa day. The ultimate in relaxation and indulgence, being pampered and forgetting about one’s day-to-day responsibilities for a few hours, is the reset we all need from time to time.

The Silo Spa, located on the fourth floor of the luxurious Silo Hotel in Cape Town, recently underwent a menu makeover. In addition to a wide variety of massage, facial, nail, and body treatments, the spa also offers a comprehensive list of packages, including new corporate packages, perfect for team-building or year-end functions.

We were invited to visit The Silo Spa to experience the Rooftop Rendezvous package, and it was a day for the books.

“I visited The Silo Spa late last year when they unveiled their brand new corporate spa menu, and as a first-time guest, I was impressed by the beauty of the space and the professionalism of the team. When the opportunity came around for myself and a colleague to experience the Rooftop Rendezvous package, I was thrilled.

The package includes a 45-minute tension-relieving massage and a 45-minute foot treatment designed to increase circulation and promote relaxation, followed by lunch on the rooftop and access to the gorgeous swimming pool.

I was excited for a day of relaxation, but I had no idea just how mind-blowing the experience would be. As a beauty editor, I’ve had the privilege of visiting several spas throughout my career. I’ve been lucky enough to experience many luxurious treatments, but our day at The Silo Spa was unlike any other spa experience I’ve had.

Upon arrival, we were treated to delicious mimosas while we completed our information forms. We were led to a private bathroom and changing area where we changed into our robes and slippers. Most spas have communal changing areas, which I don’t mind, but I loved the luxury of a private space to get ready.

Our valuables were safely locked away, and we proceeded to the luxurious waiting room, where we sat back in lazy-boy chairs, finished our drinks, and snacked on a delectable fruit platter. I must add that the waiting room and the treatment rooms are absolutely gorgeous. The design is tasteful and luxurious, and the beautiful setting really adds to the spa’s peaceful ambience.

The spa area is intimate, with only a few treatment rooms, ensuring a quiet and calm space that makes you feel at home.

After some lovely relaxation, it was time for our treatments. The massage and foot treatment that forms part of this package is the ultimate tension-relieving duo. My therapist was so considerate of my needs – she asked about my pressure preferences, and whether there were any areas I wanted her to focus on. Throughout the treatment, she checked whether I was alright and comfortable.

I recently developed some muscle knots in my shoulders and upper back. I asked her to pay extra attention to those areas, and she did an incredible job at loosening my muscles and releasing tension. She incorporated hot stones and used the cupping technique to get my circulation going. Hands down, it was one of the best massages I have ever experienced.

The foot treatment was heavenly. Despite having a desk job, I’m on my feet a lot, and this treatment did wonders to soothe my tired muscles (especially my calves) and rejuvenate my feet. I walked out of the treatment room like I was floating.

After our treatments, we were led back to the luxurious waiting room where we were offered more drinks and treated to a gorgeous cheese platter – just what we needed! The spa also boasts a beautiful sauna, which is available to use as part of this package.

The team at The Silo Spa believes that the spa journey doesn’t have to end when you leave; each guest is treated to a lovely gift, specially selected for them by their therapist, to take home and enjoy. We were treated to luxurious TheraNaka Body Butters – the same ones used for our massages – allowing us to extend the journey and the memories by indulging in some pampering at home.

We spent a bit more time relaxing and enjoying our platter before heading up to the hotel’s rooftop, where we were welcomed for lunch.

If you’ve never been to the Silo Hotel rooftop, you’re in for a major treat! With stunning 360-degree views of the city, the rooftop boasts a world-class restaurant, bar, and an eye-catching swimming pool and lounge area.

We chose a table in the shade and sipped on delicious wine while enjoying our lunch. The menu features a variety of delicious salads, poke bowls, bao, snacks, platters and desserts. Not only was the food delectable, but the portion sizes were very generous.

Like the spa staff, the restaurant staff were wonderful, checking on us frequently and doing everything they could to make us comfortable and happy.

The Rooftop Rendezvous package includes access to the pool, and I highly recommend packing your bathing suit to enjoy an afternoon in the water (or indulging in some time on one of the comfy lounge chairs!). The bar is situated right next to the lounge area, so you can order drinks after lunch and spend the rest of the day on the rooftop.

If I had to sum our experience up in one word, it would be ‘luxurious.’ From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, the incredible staff took care of our every need and went out of their way to ensure a magnificent and memorable day.

From the beautiful, intimate spa, where we were pampered like royalty, to the enjoyable lunch and drinks on the rooftop, our visit to the Silo Hotel was a world-class experience, and we have been raving about it ever since.
