The trick is in the blending. What you need to do is put some of the colour of your choice eyeshadow onto an eyeshadow brush and get ready to apply. Search for the crease above your upper lid, that is where you are going to be putting the eyeshadow. Do it one layer at a time because the last thing that you want is to have harsh lines that you cannot blend away.
Next move onto the lower lid use a thinner brush and do the same in terms of the eyeshadow application. A smudger is also a really good tool to have, you normally find this on the edge of certain Kohl pencils.
Lastly what you need to do is line the top and bottom lid with the same colour pencil as your choice of eyeshadow to just enhance and define the eye. Practice makes perfect.
