Question: Pigmentation

The pigmentation under my skin seems to have worsened over the last year and it's worrying as I am still young. I am on the pill and I have been told that this can make pigmentation worse but I cannot afford to not be on the pill so I am stuck between a rock and a hard place. I use sunscreen, SPF 25, Justine's anti-ageing in summer every day and in winter, but I do forget sometimes. Is there ANY way at all that I can reduce the pigmentation, in a cost effective way as I don't have hundreds to spend on face treatments unfortunately? And how can I prevent it from getting any worse?

Answer

Wow, that is a tricky situation. You need to remember that if your pigmentation is hormonal, which it seems to be in your case… unless you switch off the trigger, you are always going to be battling with it to some degree. You HAVE TO be religious with your sunblock. EVERY SINGLE DAY come rain or shine you need to be wearing at least an SPF 50 – I highly reccommend Heliocare! I would also suggest you start using a pigmentation inhibiting product underneath your moisturiser. Something like Lumixyl or Lytera serum (these are all available at our Skin Renewal Branches). I would also highly reccommend you start taking Lamelle’s Ovelle tablets to suppress  your pigmentation from flarring and to start lightening what is already there.
