Question: Question from Margs

Hi Lisa! I am 20 years old and I am trying to lose my last bit of stomach fat. What should I do in order to achieve this? I work from 8 to 5 so I do not have a lot of time for exercising. I am also a pescatarian and do not eat meat. Thank You!

Answer

Most important to remember is that there is no such thing as spot training. We cannot tone only one area of the body, or lose that bit of fat specifically. You need to be fit all over. I would opt for compound exercises with heavy weights, where you work more than one group of muscles at a time, which means higher calorie burns overall. Sprinting intervals in your cardio routine will also torch calories faster. Remember to work ALL your abs when you work them – the ‘six pack’ muscles, your obliques, and MOST importantly, your transverse abdominals. These are your ‘corset’ muscles which act like a girdle around the body – you’ll feel them working when you suck in your stomach. Exercising with correct form and making sure these are ALWAYS pulled in tight towards your spine will help sculpt the stomach shape you want.
