Now is the best time to stock up on your favourites, or try something new. Our editor recently put some MyEarth goodies to the test and discovered a few new favourites. Here’s her review:
“I’m very familiar with the MyEarth brand as I already purchase a variety of their products in my quest to live a more sustainable lifestyle. Some of the items that arrived for review were completely new to me, and I’m so happy to report I’ve discovered new must-haves.
The first product I put to the test was the MyEarth Bamboo Paddle Brush, a plant-based hairbrush designed to smooth and detangle hair. Available in a medium and large size, this brush has rounded tips on its bristles to prevent breakage and pulling and is made from bamboo, a renewable and sustainable resource. It is packaged in 100% recyclable packaging.
This brush is perfect for my long hair; it detangles without pulling and I love the natural feel of the bamboo. It’s not often that you come across a hairbrush free from plastic, and this one feels really luxurious – I’d highly recommend it.
Next up on my review list was the MyEarth Bamboo Powder Brush, a vegan and cruelty-free makeup brush made from sustainably-sourced bamboo. I adore the ergonomically-shaped handle (you won’t realise you’ve missed it until you try it) and I love the softness of the bristles. It sweeps across the skin comfortably, evenly distributing face powder. Now that MyEarth has eco-friendly makeup brushes available at such reasonable prices, I see no need of purchasing plastic brushes ever again.
I’ve seen the MyEarth Aromatherapy Doughs online, but this was my first time using one. I tried the Cedar Wood, Lavender & Vanilla variant, which aims to help you relax. This plant-based dough contains 100% organic essential oils and is free from preservatives. The idea behind the dough is to play with it for a few minutes, which is not only relaxing in itself, but it also allows you to reap the benefits of the essential oils. I adore the scent of the Relax variant; it’s so soothing and comforting. Whenever I’m feeling a little overwhelmed or anxious, I take five minutes to play with the dough and clear my head. It definitely has a relaxing effect on my body and I actually find it really therapeutic.
Moving on to my absolute favourite MyEarth product I’ve tested – the Make-Up Remover Facial Wipes. I stopped buying traditional make-up remover wipes years ago after I discovered how damaging they are to the environment, but these ones are plant-based! They’re made from viscose cellulose and wood pulp, they’re plastic-free and infused with aloe and camomile extract to nourish your skin. I absolutely adore them – they don’t disintegrate or break when you use them (this has happened to me with another brand), they feel soothing on the skin, and best of all, they actually remove every trace of makeup – including waterproof mascara – with ease. I cannot recommend them enough – they are incredible!
The MyEarth Organic Cotton Puffs are an old favourite – I use them for pretty much everything from removing makeup, to dabbing on ointments and creams, to cleaning my tech with sanitizer… They’re convenient and versatile, and come in come in 100% recyclable packaging. Plus you can trust that they’re made from 100% cotton without any added colourants or other materials, so they’re ultra-gentle on skin.
The last item I put to the test was the MyEarth Bamboo Body Buff, which is a fantastic alternative to the nasty plastic loofas that became popular back when I was in high school. This buff is made from natural bamboo and cotton fibres. It feels gentle on the skin and works really well with shower gel, as well as body scrubs.
Prior to this review I was already a MyEarth convert, but trying these products reinstated my admiration for the brand. I love their philosophy and dedication to sustainability, and what makes me really happy is that their products are affordable. They’re making eco-friendly beauty and personal care more accessible by maintaining lower prices, which is a very important step in getting more people to move over to sustainable products.
