What we say:
‘When the new Maybelline Color Tattoo Cream Gel Shadow landed on my desk a few weeks ago, the 24-hour claim intrigued me. I love a good challenge. That was until I realised I had to test the Endless Purple shade… for 24 hours! So, there I found myself one Saturday morning, 9am, walking through P’nP, rocking purple eye shadow. Luckily I only received one confused look from a security guard. I think everyone else just assumed I hadn’t washed my make-up off from the night before.

‘When after 12 hours the eye shadow still appeared 80% as fresh as when I’d applied it that morning, I was impressed. Sure some of it had dissolved into my skin, but I had just been wearing it for 12 HOURS. By 9pm I was so bored of only wearing one colour that I blended it with the Timeless Black cream shadow. Maybelline’s Color Tattoo 24HR Cream Gel Shadow has a striking colour upon first application, but it also blends really well into a smoky eye. If you’re going to be blending it though, it’s best done when still “fresh” as the colour tends to “set” in anticipation of those 24 hours pretty soon after application. Also, make sure you’ve got a pretty good eye make-up remover handy. Wipes will remove some of the cream shadow, but not all of it.’

I am interested in purchasing the Maybelline colour tattoo 24hr cream eyeshadow but I see it’s not available in any of the stores in SA. May you please advise where I can get them from. I also tried looking it up online but the maybelline site that I’m picking up is only for USA customers.

These eye shadows are not the most inexpensive eye shadows I have ever purchased. It is around R95 per pot. I picked up Permanent Taupe, a beautiful taupe shade, and was really excited to try it after reading amazing things about it. I don’t know if this particular shade was just a dud but it was terrible to use. The product felt quite hard to touch and once I had it on my finger, it was practically impossible to get it off of my finger and onto my eyelid, leaving me with a very patchy difficult-to-blend eyeshadow look. To make matters worse, this was not a “tattoo” at all, this one faded within an hour. So all the work that had to go into getting the shadow onto my lids and then blending it out was all for nothing.

From my experience I would not recommend these and I never plan to try them again. The other shades might be better, I just don’t care to find out.

This eyeshadow is NOT for the faint hearted! These eyeshadows are vibrant, bold and perfect for someone who is daring enough! I have it in a beautiful royal purple shade. I’m not completely brave enough to use this as a full eyeshadow, so instead… I apply it as a purple eyeliner. This eyeshadow has a really rich texture which is creamy and once it’s applied… IT STAYS! I would really recommend this if you would like a neon coloured eyeliner.

I love creating very striking and defined eye designs and this product is great for that. My eyes are quite hooded so eyeshadow tends to rub off quite easily but this product really helped with that problem.

From the reviews this looks like a good buy. I haven’t really tried Maybelline make up before so this is a good place to start. Loved the texture as opposed to traditional pressed powders that I normally use. I found it did actually crease a little and the color was very “WOW” and in your face.

The texture was nice, as a cream it def stays on and is good as a base. I was just a little disappointed that it creases a bit and disappointed at its colour range. The only 4 or 5 colours were not my favourite…but loved the blue and purple. Would recommend it to people who use a lot of one of these colours in daily basis but for me..too much to use and expensive.

The texture of this product is great and the colour pigments are bold and great. The only problem I have is that it tends to crease but it’s good as a base.

I have seen a lot of Youtube beauty gurus using this product so I was very excited to try and I have definitely added this to my favourites list. My favourite colour definitely has to be Bad to the Bronze.

Love this! I have the 24hr colour tattoo in purple. I would never use it as an eyeshadow because its abit of too much in your face which isn’t my style. I use this as a gel eyeliner which is amazing. This amazing gel eyeshadow blends well as an eyeliner, gives a beautiful line and has the most creamy texture. The colour is a rich and bold colour which you can never go wrong with choosing. The best part that I love about this product is that it doesn’t fade or smudge which is something I really appreciate, plus it’s really long lasting and completely easy to remove! Retails for R99 which I find reasonable because you don’t really need a lot to achieve the colour you actually want.
