Review: Inside the Dolce&Gabbana Makeup Collection now available at ARC

For years, South African makeup enthusiasts have been lusting over the stunning Dolce&Gabbana makeup offering overseas. But not anymore. In case you hadn’t heard, Dolce&Gabbana makeup is now available at ARC, allowing us to – finally! – shop some of the gorgeous products we’ve been coveting.

Available in-store and online, ARC stocks a variety of Dolce&Gabbana colour cosmetics, allowing you to create infinite combinations for every look, mood, and occasion.

We were lucky enough to receive a few products to try – this is our editor’s take on the much-talked-about collection:

“This is not my first time using Dolce&Gabbana colour cosmetics. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a variety of makeup products early on in my beauty career. The brand left such a big impression on me. I was, of course, already a major fan of Dolce&Gabbana fragrances (I mean, who doesn’t adore Light Blue and The One?!), but I found the makeup absolutely stunning.

From the unrivalled Italian craftsmanship to the colour payoff, to the luxurious packaging… I loved every product I tried.

Fast-forward several years, Dolce&Gabbana is finally available in SA, and I’ve had the pleasure of trying a few products. My favourite has to be the standout Everlift Luminizer. This luxurious highlighter powder illuminates and lifts all skin tones with one soft-halo universal shade.

It is formulated with a high concentration of pigments and pearls, which results in a beautiful glow that lasts for hours. It’s so versatile – I’ve even used it as an eyeshadow! I love that it’s vegan-friendly and that Dolce&Gabbana used upcycled ingredients (in this case, upcycled Italian grapes, which are known to boost collagen production).

Another one of my favourites is the Ever Icon Eye Palette. I’ve been using shade 03 Chrome Star, which features 6 multi-finish shades for flawless day-to-night eye makeup application. From matte to satin and soft metallic, the palette allows you to create endless shade combinations. The shadow stays put (even after hours), it is crease-proof and has almost no fall-out, making it such a pleasure to apply.

To complete my eye look, I’ve been using Dolce&Gabbana Everful XL Mascara. This high-performance mascara dramatically increases lash volume and lifts every individual lash to open eyes and create that wide-awake look. It is available in one deep black shade (01 Total Black) and is crafted with 84% natural ingredients, making it gentle on the eyes. Sweat-proof, the formula lasts all day. I can apply it in the morning, and there is no need to reapply if I go out at night. I love the innovative brush. It’s cleverly designed to capture even the shortest and inner lashes for a fuller, more voluminous effect.

Lastly, I’ve been wearing Everkiss Liquid Lipstick in shade 410 Audacity, a beautiful shade of red that flatters all skin tones. The soft matte finish is smudge-proof, and the mousse-like texture is easy to apply. It feels soft and velvety on the lips, and the colour lasts all day. I also love that it has great colour payoff: you don’t need to apply several layers as the colour is intense and beautifully covers lips with just one or two swipes.

The quality of the Dolce&Gabbana makeup formulations is exceptional. Not only do the products feel velvety and luxurious on the skin, but they also offer longevity. I love knowing that I can apply my makeup in the morning and it will stay put all day long. I don’t have to worry about creasing, fading or smudging.  

I also have to take a moment to appreciate the beauty of the packaging. Dolce&Gabbana colour cosmetics are known for their exquisite packaging, and, in my opinion, there is no other makeup product on the market that rivals their beauty. The designs are simply magnificent.” Anien – Editor
