Tried and tested: Placecol Hydro Cocoa Facial 1

We’re always keen to try new and exciting facial treatments to restore moisture, even skin tone and delay the signs of ageing. Last month our editor experienced the Placecol Hydro Cocoa Facial at Placecol in Kenilworth, Cape Town.

The Hydra Cocoa Facial is an ultra-calming treatment that combines SOFT LASER® technology with powerful antioxidants to calm and restore dry, damaged and sensitive skin. This intense moisturising treatment makes use of a Rejuvenating Cocoa Mask to provide long-lasting hydration, restoring moisture and suppleness to dry, sensitive and dehydrated skin.

Not only does it offer hydration and skin restoration, but it’s a highly enjoyable treatment too. Here’s what our editor had to say:

“Firstly, a big thank you to Placecol Kenilworth for hosting me for this treatment – I wasn’t sure what to expect but thoroughly enjoyed it!

My therapist started off the appointment by discussing my skincare regime and concerns with me, and it turned out that some of the things I’m most concerned about (such as dehydration and fine lines) are exactly what this facial was designed for.

First up she removed my makeup and double-cleansed my skin. This was followed by an exfoliation with steam, using Placecol’s Enzyme Exfoliator. I find the use of a steamer so relaxing and somehow soothing, plus, it’s great for opening and decongesting pores.

She sprayed some Placecol Pore Refining Mist on my skin and then began the SOFT LASER® treatment. Honestly, I couldn’t feel the laser at all; all I felt was the gentle movement of the device across my face. It isn’t painful or uncomfortable at all.

After about ten minutes of laser, it was time for the highlight of the facial – the Rejuvenating Cocoa Mask. Essentially, it’s a thick, gooey mask that’s applied all over your face including over your eyes and mouth (provided you’re not claustrophobic). It smells heavenly – think melted chocolate and cocoa!

It hardens on the skin for a few minutes (it takes on a rubbery texture) and is then peeled off the skin. I was treated to an amazing neck and shoulder massage while the mask worked its magic.

To end off, my therapist applied Placecol Pore Refining Mist, Revitalising Eye Therapy, Barrier Protect Day Cream and Sun Protection Spray SPF 15.

My skin felt great after the treatment – it was soft, plump and glowing. My therapist suggested having this facial once a month for best results.”
